My major is pretty up in the air right now.

But my choices are narrowed to: Biology, Biochemistry, or Genetics.
However I dont think Benedictine offers Genetics...so I dunno.

I would LIKE to double major in something...like Biochemistry and chemistry maybe?
Or Biology and Biochemistry?
Or Biology and Genetics?

I dunno. :)

Benedictine's science department is supposed to be really good. they're known for their science, buisness, and theology. At least that's what they told me on the tour. :)

OK!
So Im here in Kansas right now sitting in the Benedictine library.

my experience so far:

The car ride was long.
I got sick.
I tried to puke on the side of the highway...not fun... :)

But I feel better.
I have been up for over 24 hours...Im going crazy.

I went to a biology class and was VERY dissapointed.
The professor was annoying, seemed unprofessional to me. He made innapropriate jokes to get the class laughing...(ok so a couple jokes is fun to lighten the mood...but he didnt stop) and he was constantly straying off topic to talk about personal stories.
BLEH! And he was one of those teachers who talked AT you...and he was SUPER boring...didnt explain these well.

The class seemed very uninterested...like it was just a time to hang out and chat. People were constatnly making small talk...and just not really paying attention in general.

So yeah...time to look somewhere else.
Now I just gotta get home.

Next stop, OHIO!

That classroom experience seems very odd to me. Who was the teacher and what was the name of the class? I think there's a couple new guys this year in that department.

EVERY college is gonna have some bad teachers. I had a nun for my Calc 1&2 teacher and she was regularly asking the students for help, when its supposed to be the other way around. And I learned that sisters/nuns should only teach religion and English.

Most of the biology teachers are well liked by my bio-major friends though.

It was Dr. Bowen or something like that.
I found him creepy....very creepy.

I dont think he is new...
But I really like the head of the Biology department, he was really nice!
I got some one on one time with him before some more people came into the session, so that was cool.
Their biology program seems really nice though...its just that ONE STUPID TEACHER that drives me crazy.
I know I shouldnt judge everything on one teacher, but BLEH! Thats the only experience in the class I had.

LOL!
About that nun...the roommate of the girl I was staying with was a math major and talked about this nun who treated all the kids like grade schoolers.
It may be the same one.

Luckily, that particular nun retired. There's a comp-sci professor and two English professors who are nuns. I'm betting the nun the girl was talking about was the comp-sci professor. I was a comp-sci major my freshman year, so I had her for a teacher too.

If you're gonna be a bio major, you're gonna have a lot of Dr. Bowen classes though. So if you really think you'll always have a problem with him, then picking another school or another major might be a good idea.
