Deus te Amat
I really kinda want to go to a Catholic college. The problem is tat mom wants me to major in someting that actually has a job field, i.e., none of the humanities. So Christendom and Ave Maria are kinda out of the question unless i get lucky. I was trying for steubenville, but i'm not so sure anymore. I'm also applying to Creighton (i really dont think so anymore... they are more liberal than i thought)... and these two colleges. But i really dont know very much about either of them, Can anyone help me out? Thank you!!
hyperdulia again
there are plenty of jobs tied to the humanities. i think you'll regret not going to a catholic school.

Deus te Amat
I guess i lied, Grove City isnt Catholic. I wonder why i thought they were.
hoosieranna
Grovers (Grove City students) tend to be after a marriage partner as much as a degree. They are very, very Protestant. They have a good academic reputation and are unusually affordable (for a college). It's a good school. I'd find the atmosphere stifling. I don't know about you, D. I don't know anything about Briar Cliff. Just for what it's worth there are humanities jobs. There's also a thing called a double-major. I'll put in a mention for St. Olaf. They're good. Off the top of my head, there are four or five Catholic schools in or around Chicago. There's Marquette in the UP of Michigan.
Deus te Amat
I do love St. Olaf, but they aren't for me.... I'm actually wearing a St. Olaf shirt right now.... I'm thinkin no to Grove City... *sigh* i dont really know anymore. It was a college mom brought up. Double Major. OOoooh fun.... Thanks you... smile! hoosieranna
You're very sweet. Before I forget, there is also St. Mary's College up around Notre Dame. It's a women's college. One of the girls I graduated HS with went there. NOT to be confused with St. Mary of the Woods College.

-I---Love
If you want classes on Saturdays and want to be required to go to Protestant religious services (although you still may go to Catholic Mass, etc.) go to Grove City. It has a great reputation academically and is a "selective school." The rule is NO alcohol on campus even over 21. As a Catholic I would not feel at home there and I would not feel able to really cultivate my spiritual life. If you are looking only for academics and not remembering you will LIVE, play, and make friends there for 4 years then, okay. Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA is Catholic but not like FUS. It's interesting but I would recommend it for great teachers and many other reasons. You will probably get more financial aid here than Grove City (and if you could get into GC then you will be good enough academically to get more money here). Check out their Wimmer Scholarship too. Don't pick a major based on your parents or any other persons desires. You will end up unhappy. Your mother means well, but you have to follow what you think is best (in God's path). FUS isn't a great area and not extremely safe... Edited October 24, 2007 by -I---Love

Thank you for the recommendation, i'll look into it. I'm actually applying for Hillsdale College, its my number one choice at the moment, even though i really want a Catholic College.... and Traditional Catholic Theology.... The major thing... easy to say, hard to do at the moment, perhaps it will become easier when i get out of the house.
