Guardian Angels

Do all human beings have guardian angels? If so, what is the role, if any, of guardian angels in leading us to faith through grace in Jesus Christ? In other words, what's potentially going on "behind the scenes?"

I'd like to think I have a guardian angel, I really don't know much on the subject itself thouhj.... I think, if we do, then it's like having a benevolent spirit looking out for us.

Oh man...I once talked with a very knowledgeable guy who was connected to a group called Opus Angelorum. To my knowledge, this is a solid, orthodox, Catholic group that seeks to foster better understanding of the angels, their work, and the common goals we share with them. He told me some amazing and really cool stuff, but it was a while ago. I don't want to try and repeat it and get it wrong. So google Opus Angelorum. As a teaser, I believe he said that scripture implies, at times, that we humans have not only one, but possibly more than one "guardian angel" assigned to us.

Peace!

We are guaranteed one guardian angel in our baptism. If I remember correctly, patristic sources tell us that a priest receives a second guardian angel at Ordination.

What of the unbaptized? Perhaps. We do not know, as we lack the data.

Well, St. Jerome seemed to think so
"How great the dignity of the soul, since each one has from his birth an angel commissioned to guard it." (Comm. in Matt., xviii, lib. II)
For clarification, I believe whether or not all souls have guardian angels or just baptized persons is more of an East/West disagreement.

The New Catechism tells us that all believers have an angel, whether or not the unbaptized do is at this point left up to debate.

Yes, I checked the Catechism, and the language is ambiguous, IMHO.

From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their [angels] watchful care and intercession. "Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life." Already here on earth the Christian life shares by faith in the blessed company of angels and men united in God.

CCC, 336

The first sentence could be interpreted to imply that all human beings are assigned guardian angels. The second sentence, however, could be interpreted to imply that only "believers" are assigned guardian angels.

yeah... i dont really believe in them... what are they supposed to do, and if they guard us, why can spiritual attacks be so violent, cause angels are supposed to be rough and tough warriors as well.
