It's above $2 million. Why can't I get a letter from those senators condemning me for something I didn't do?
I know. I like the attention. (Yes, I know I'm a whore, but I still like it)

Seriously though, its amazing that this thing has gotten so high.

I also love how my more left-leaning Senator Jim Webb signed. Apparently, my not-so-left-but-still-too-freaking-left-leaning Senator John Warner decided not to sign.

Too bad Webb didn't get the memo. God I hate both of them. I hate dead-witch-pardoning Gov. Tim Kaine too. As a matter of fact I hate Virginia. Patrick Henry, where art tho? :(

wow! Just saw some of the news headlines:

UPDATE: $2,100,100 TOP BID FOR DEM LETTER BASHING LIMBAUGH...
Largest charity bid in the history of EBAY? Jay Leno's Harley went for $800,000...

Fantastic! Plus, I think Rush offered to match the highest bid and offered for the Dems that signed the letter to also match... since they are such big supporters of our brothers and sisters in the military and all.

hmmm... maybe I misunderstood what he was saying when he talked about it on the air... I'm looking through the transcripts of his show from the past week. Maybe he was talking about how he is an actual member of the board of this military charity.

He signed a $250 million contract six years ago. I'm not worried.

Yes, Monday he said he will match the high bid. And invites the Dems to join him - since they support our military and all.

Which is the closest he'll ever get to military service or serving this country.

With respect, a) Limbaugh has a big pair of brass ones to dare and criticize service personnel who served in Iraq simply because they oppose the Administration's policies, and b) the Repubs in Congress are gigantic hypocrites for condemning MoveOn.org for, you know, exercising its First Amendment right, and then turning a blind eye to Limbaugh's slander of troops who served.

That's why this thing is so funny. He was NOT criticizing service personnel. He was talking about the people in Iraq who are literally pretending to be American soldiers, when they are actually not. That's why the letter is so hilarious, because it was based on a complete misundertsanding by the democrats.

From an AP story:
A letter from Democratic senators blasting conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh for using the phrase "phony soldiers" on his program was sold Friday on eBay for a record $2.1 million.

...

On his show Friday, Limbaugh said proceeds from the sale, and a matching $2.1 million from his own pocket, would go to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, which provides scholarships to children of Marines or federal law enforcement personnel who were killed while serving their country.

...

"The Eugene B. Casey Foundation believes freedom of speech is a basic right of every citizen of this country," the group said in a news release Friday.

In the segment where Limbaugh made the "phony soldiers" comment, he discussed Jesse Macbeth, who was sentenced to five months in prison last month for faking his military service. The Tacoma, Wash., man was kicked out of the Army after six weeks at Fort Benning, Ga., in 2003, but he later claimed to have participated in war crimes in Iraq and tried to position himself as a leader of the anti-war movement.
