catholicinsd
I know I'm a day late at this, but I'd like to wish you all a very happy Native American Day!

Andreas E.
You know what's funny? Back in the 19th century during the mass-immigration from all sorts of European countries, people that were born here, most of them of European descent, were calling themselves Native Americans... Just the useless fact of the day.

Groo the Wanderer
Yes! Happy Native American Day to the buffalo and the mammoths....since they WERE here before the Indians got here....
Aloysius
Isn't that the loopy new name for 'Columbus Day' that a couple states have adopted? bah, happy Columbus Day to you . Christopher Columbus had his faults, but overall he was a great man. TO Native American Indians: my direct line of ancestors did nothing to aid in the extermination of your races and cultures... we're Irish and came over a few centuries too late to be involved in all that. haha ... I do enjoy your gift of tobacco and corn, though, thanks for that! Those darn British, they were oppressing us about the same time they started exterminating you. (just illustrating the ridiculosity of the collective guilt of the "white-man" (or "Caucasian")... my line of ancestors did not participate in the African Slave Trade (they were much too poor and oppressed in Ireland at the time) nor the persecution of Native American Indians... so I should get off scott free from that stuff, right? homeschoolmom
Yeah, my husband had Monday off because it was Columbus Day (not "Native American Day")... Yeah for bankers holidays!
catholicinsd
I'm Irish also, however, being of European Descent and and living on this land, I do feel somewhat responsible for the injustices perpetrated againist those who lived here before my forefathers. catholicinsd
HSMom, Clearly you are ignorant of the South Dakota State Law which renames the Holiday to honor Native Americans.
