catholicinsd
I'm O+, so basically I'm a universal donor (If you have the RH protein.) Only O- is considered more universal.
missionarybelle
ditto. I like telling my friends that I could give most of them blood but a lot of them couldn't give me blood. it's kinda weird. I'm 130 lbs. and 5'3". I'm not fat just kinda curvy. but I have friends who are just really small boned but they're not anorexic or anything. just tiny.
Archaeology cat
when I was 9, my brother was attacked, and had his throat slashed. He had to have 4 units the minute he got to the hospital. I remember my mom calling people to donate, and I was afraid that they wouldn't get there in time. My dad explained that he had already gotten the blood from someone who had donated the day before just in case something like this happened. We were having people come in to replace that for someone that might get hurt tomorrow. They obviously wouldn't let me give. I was so proud when I turned 17, and got permission to give at a school blood drive. I've given ever since, and lost count of the gallons. Every time I give, it hurts, I get squeamish, but I keep going back. It's a promise I made to my brother almost 37 years ago. The old fool is going to be 60 in 6 weeks and just married a woman 20 years younger than he is.
Wow. My sister & mom give because my grandmother needed blood. I wanted to at that time, but was too young.
I'm O+, so basically I'm a universal donor (If you have the RH protein.) Farsight one
Discussions on giving blood make me feel guilty. I don't give because of a phobia of needles. Some people get angry and tell me to "smell of elderberries it up", but phobias don't work that way.

My mom doesn't seem to understand why I can't just "smell of elderberries it up" and deal with it. I'd rather get my teeth drilled without anesthetic. Noel's angel
Thank you, dear. Oh, and thank you littleflower for pointing out that I'm perfectly healthy! My mum was really skinny when she was young (way skinnier than me). Then she had babies... I feel sorry for people who are scared of needles. My brother broke his pelvis and refused to take pain relief because he's scared of needles. I can understand perfectly why people hate them, and I think people should be more sympathetic to people with a fear of needles. (BTW, I just ate a big bowl of pasta ) Edited October 2, 2007 by Noel's angel
