Gays Express Dismay Over Pace's Statement

"Some gay members of the military were shocked that outgoing Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Peter Pace repeated his personal belief that homosexuality is immoral during congressional testimony Wednesday. "

I guess they believe that those who think homosexuality is a sin are not allowed to express it and it has to be kept a private opinion. Freedom of speech is on the way out if this keeps up.

Bravo Pace!

"When he talks about morality, that doesn't have any place. His personal beliefs shouldn't be what he's relying on a day-to-day basis. He broke regulations; he's not supposed to voice his personal opinion."

I find it ironic that a Marine who broke regulations himself by practicing his homosexuality (or enlisting while he had SSA), is pointing the finger at Pace for expressing his own beliefs on the subject.

In other words, it's wrong, i.e. immoral, to say what the good general said. i.e. our friend is expressing his personal beliefs. The dictatorship of relativism is on the move.

Actually, you're allowed to express your personal beliefs as long as there inline with the UCMJ. What, the military's gonna kick you out for agreeing with it?

How would you feel showering next to a man?

I would feel the same way showering next to a gay dude.

I wouldn't.

But I do have a solution. Allow gays, and then everybody (men AND women) share showers. I think that's fair.

What is wrong with you that can't see how letting men and women shower together is going encourage rape?

That would play havoc with the ability of the soldiers to sublimate their eros. It will then probably affect their performance.

But I think you've got your tounge firmly in your cheek.

Homosexuals are allowed to enlist, but there is a "don't ask, don't tell" policy that they are supposed to abide by. (I didn't read this article but I read one recently, it may be the same one, and what I gathered was that Gen. Pace doesn't think they should be allowed). They don't always follow policy and that causes problems.

There are a number of religious, moral, and secular reasons why its a bad idea to allow them to enlist--the avoidance of near occasions of sin is a huge one (those with SSA are discouraged from the priesthood as well, in my mind it's a similar way of thinking). Temptation abounds when you're living in close quarters with people you're attracted to (no matter what your inclinations are, hetero-or-homosexual). The military is a big organization with a lot of members, many of them won't be practicing "hate the sin, love the sinner."

Done it...it was one of the least memorable experiences of my life.

Honestly, the morality of homosexuality is one discussion, but don't flatter yourself by thinking every homosexual will find you desirable. Fact is, most don't even look at men they know are straight. They are people, not sex-crazed maniacs (Brian on "qwerty as Folk" notwithstanding...).

I highly doubt thats what Justin is thinking. However, (outside of marriage lol) most people aren't going to be comfortable showering right next to someone who might be attracted to them in that way (hetero or homosexual). As a straight woman I'd still be uncomfortable showering next to a bunch of straight men (heck, I'd be uncomfortable showering next to gay men, too lol). The same principle applies to a heterosexual man showering next to a homosexual man. The attraction might not be there, but the discomfort IS.

Does the same hold true for baths?
