:(

Sheesh...

My friends are Baptist missionaries in Croatia and they are also homeschoolers.... I don't think they've had any problems. Germany, however, is notoriously anti-homeschooling.

In one of the articles it said they worry about a "counter-culture" being created, so they want everyone under their control in the public schools.

I didn't realise Germany had a monolithic culture. It seems strange, especially as private schools are permitted, and they could theoretically add many innovations to the standard curriculum.

And this is ironic in a country that is now so p.c. that any opposition to immigration is censored as "Nazi-like."

Totalitarianism at its finest - first the Nazis, then the Commies, now this - some things never change . . .

Sounds like a remnant from the Nazi era, but I'm sure everyone is afraid of pointing that out...

Well, the anti-homeschooling position has it's roots in Nazi era Germany, so you're probably not at all off base.

How can you be deported from your own country? Where do they send you?[/quote]

The people threatened with deportation are from the US. They're Baptist missionaires.

But if you go to the bottom of that article, you'll find other articles that talk about what the German homeschoolers are going through. One girl was taken away from her parents and sent to a physc ward, and then later foster care before finally being restored to her parents. All because she was being homeschooled. Other people have had SWAT teams come to their house and forcibly remove their children, people have had wages garnished, etc. It's creepy stuff.
