Farsight one
First off, does anyone else find those commercials extremely annoying? And more importantly, what the heck is the stuff for?!?!?!?!!!!!11!!!!!1!!!? I see the stupid commercial probably five times a day, and I still don't know what it's for. The commercial doesn't say. Gah!
prose
It is for headaches. They actually have another commercial about how annoying their first commercial is
MissScripture
I HATE those commercials! Never saw them at home, but at school they're on ALL THE TIME!
let_go_let_God
It's for headaches but regardless of how annoying they are, the commercials work because it's a simple repetitive behavior that makes you remember the product. Seemingly simplistic eh? God bless- LGLG
MissScripture
Yes, but because of the annoyance of those commercials, I will never buy the product.

Gah! [/quote] The commercials are supposed to imply that it's for headaches. I worked in pharmaceutical marketing at the time it first came out. They cannot by law claim, in the commercials or on the box, that it works at reducing headaches, because clinical tests showed that it worked no better than the placebo. So they ran a brilliant marketing campaign that involved: - showing people in pain while using it. - the slogan "apply directly to your forehead - having the commercial run immediately after other commercials for headache and back-ache medication Thus, it implies what it's supposed to do, making no direct claims that it does so. They're raking in tens of millions for some sticky goo that you put on your forehead. Some people claim it works -- it's PURELY psychological, according to clinical tests. MissScripture
I kind of figured as much, considering there's no logical reasoning for it to work...I mean, the way headaches work and putting something topical on doesn't really seem to make much sense... XIX
Maybe I'll go up to their marketing execs and apply my fist directly to their forehead.

While I'm in no way defending Head-on I wouldn't necessarily rule out topical. I work in a dental clinic and we use topical anesthesia all the time. Why not a topical headache cream?
