Apotheoun
Do the Greek-Orthodox acknowledge Holy Orders administered by the Catholic Church to be valid?
Some Orthodox theologians would deny the validity of Holy Orders in the Latin Church, because they connect Apostolic Succession to Orthodoxy of Faith, and not simply to a mechanical notion of succession through the laying on of hands by the historical chain of bishops. On this issue the West tends to follow the sacramental views of St. Augustine, while the East tends to follow the sacramental theology of St. Cyprian.
