Lil Red
I would feel obligated to leave a note with my contact info and what happened. I would play it safe. I would feel like a load of guilt would be on my shoulders if I didn't. Then if they don't think anything of it then they won't call. It is there problem they didn't call. You did your part... right! i would just say be careful! For one, you don't know what psychos are out there. Two, something else could happen to their car and try to blame you for it, after all, you left contact info that you did something to their car. Keep a disposable camera in your car. Better to have proof of what you actually did than not. And disposable cameras are not that expensive. i'm just trying to cover all possibilities. i'm paranoid.
foundsheep
I never thought of that issue, leaving your information to a complete stranger. How bout a phone number and arrange a public meet spot. Sounds almost like a blind date.
IcePrincessKRS
A phone number is still contact info, though. If I didn't notice any damage I wouldn't doo anything. If I really had to examine for a minute scratch... well I'm lazy and wouldn't do that, so I wouldn't notice. If I did some kind of bigger really noticable damage I would probably wait a few minutes and see if the person came out, if they didn't I'd just leave because I'm paranoid and wouldn't want my phone number, name, adress, or whatever floating around in some strangers hands. NewReformation
Which is why I park far enough away from other cars that I won't damage anybody's.
Norseman82
Was there shopping carts in the vicinity? If so move your car and place a shopping cart nearby. But the shopping cart could bang into YOUR car. Besides, the shopping carts are usually rounded up every so often. When I asked about this once in confession, he mentioned about leaving a note. A simple way to solve this would be to spend a couple of dollars on those door guards you slip on the door at the point where it could come in contact with something else. Also, parking in a stall that has enough room for you to open your door and being aware when you open your door (especially if there are strong wind gusts!). And keep in mind that when your door hits something, your door gets a small scratch and some paint scrapes off. The only question I MIGHT have is if someone parks next to me and doesn't give me enough room to open my door, that is a grey area - yeah it's damage, but on the other hand it's a consequence that a jerk has to pay for being inconsiderate. I do not endorse it as I don't know all the legal and moral ramifications of this rare circumstance.
