For those not in the know, Joey-O and I are in the same class on the Reformation, and one of our assignments this week is to familiarize ourselves with the key historical events of the Protestant Reformation.

Well then...

I think a key part of the Protestant Reformation was when Martin Luther King taped a 96 Degree's CD onto the Barn Door.
We must not also forget the pivotal role that ducks played in this Reformation. Writing a paper without mentioning the ducks would surely be given a failing grade.

Dunno if this is what you are looking for but, First I would have an understanding of the struggle of power between spiritual and temporal authorities, with growing nationalism created an anti-papalism and anti-clericalism.

But this was not the motivation for Luther. Luther saw the failure of the Church's general councils of the fifteenth century to reform Church abuses, such as the wordliness of the clergy, selling of indulgences and the decadence of monasticism. This caused Luther, to post the ninety-five theses. These practices worked themselves out in time, and according to Braaten Luther intended to leave until it got better and then come back. (At least that was his intention at first)

Im assuming this is an assignment. Right? I assume you already went to new advent

Karl Adam has a short book called "Roots of the Reformation.". I have a copy but have not read it yet but he is solid and I am sure it will be helpful to you.

Blessings

nah, knowing joey he missed those classes. "History is for the catholics...it isnt in scripture, Im gonna focus on the pretty butterflies and how they work with my neuro-dynamic quantium gap theory"

Then he would draw a picture, and play RPG with Brian.

Sheesh... It's pretty typical PM form to at least advise us of your intention to use us to do your homework. <_<

When I was doing my college paper on the causes of the reformation, I picked out like 10 things to focus on, and then wrote how each of those things might have turned out differently if for instance Julius II had been Pope instead. It made it less boring. The Prof gets the same stuff each time.
