thicke
Face to face, always. It just seems so much more honest and humble doing it that way. I actually go to a different parish for confession than my own because we have a priest who does not allow you to go face to face. cimlog
I usually go behind the curtain but now feel like it is better to go face to face.

Spiritual_Arsonist
Whenever I go to confession at my parish, I always go face to face, because anonynimity is not possible, and I know all of the priests. This also helps because there seems to be more interaction. Whenever I go to other parishes, I go behind the curtain. I never know the priests, and they do not know me. Greenelf288
i often go behind the screen (sometimes there is no choice anyways) but sometimes i go face to face, especially when i really want to talk to the priest about something.

Richard
I have to be honest and say I've never been to confession. I never had my first communion as a child so I don't receive the sacrament of the Eucharist either. Should I be going to confession even if I'm not taking communion? Laudate_Dominum
I chose behind the screen even though I usually go face to face. This is because I don't go face to face by choice but because that's how they do it where I go to confession. I prefer behind the screen and not because I am a "big chicken"!!! But because I find that confession tends to be more reverent that way and I can look at a crucifix and be totally focused on Christ and receiving His love rather than on kicking back with a priest and shooting the breeze. That's been my experience of face to face confession, it's less solemn and often less serious. The priest feels obligated to entertain or something. Anyway, that's my take. Laudate_Dominum
Should I be going to confession even if I'm not taking communion? Since the Fourth Lateran Council in the 13th century all Catholics are required to go to confession at least once a year. I don't know how that applies if you haven't been fully initiated into the Church. I would certainly suggest getting your first confession and first Communion. M.SIGGA
I go behind the screen usually because it feels more like God is speaking throught the words of the priest. For extened council, I usually make a 'face to face' appointment with Fr. because the Confession lines are so long and Mass starts at 4pm whether or not everyone has had a chance to go. One time I was first to go and I was in there for almost 30 minutes and a lot of folks didn't get to go before mass and I felt really bad.
Jake Huether
Although I have been going to "behind the screan", due to the convinient times and location of one of the Parishes near my house, I much prefere face to face, especially when the priest is a good confessor. There is also the benefit of being held accountable to a face. You don't want to show up again with the same sin...
