I love this list, and yes, I did get all of them. :)
Maybe yours looks like a flock of seagulls ...
Now I have that song stuck in my head. . .
When I was a little kid, I was a very serious child and told my parents that there wasn't enough time to laugh...we needed to be busy doing important work for God. Then I challenged them to find a passage in Scripture where Jesus was laughing.

Good intention, but wasn't I just the little Calvinist...

St. Philip Neri got it right. :) We need joy.
Funny. One of the pastors at my parents' Methodist church insists on having a picture in his office of Jesus laughing. It's really a great image. :)

Since God invented the platypus, giraffes, and human sexuality you know He must have a sense of humor.

For some reason, the last few times I've read the Song of Solomon I've had a hard time figuring out which phrases were said by the woman and which were said by the man. I don't remember being so confused when I read it in the past...

My Bible helpfully points out the Lover/Beloved passages with a little label at the top.

you know, its funny you include that. my hubby and i just took gregory popcak's exceptional marriage quiz (and yes, we have an exceptional marriage  only 7% of couples score as high as we did :nerd: ), and one of the questions in the intimacy category asked if you and your spouse were able to find laughter in the marriage bed.

sometimes, joy just needs laughter to express itself ^_^

hey i didn't say what our answer was, just that it was included <_<

if you want to assume something, based on the fact that we have an exceptional marriage, that's your business. :idontknow:

and besides, clearly, since our marriage are in the top 7% in the country, you should be taking notes, bucko. we're practically EXPERTS over here :P

I totally got this thread. As young Evangelical males we would sometimes read the Song of Solomon (or Songs) for amusement. (This was before MTV in a simpler time.)

As a teenager who didn't HAVE MTV, I used to read it for amusement, too :P Until I was about fifteen I really had no idea what the significance of the book was, and thought maybe it was God's sense of humor on display. :P
