Cool Catholic Things From The State Fair

Tonight I volunteered at the state fair at my university's booth, and had a great talk with the father of one of the first-year students at St. John Vianney Seminary. It was really, really cool to hear him talk about his son discerning the priesthood, and you could tell he was really really proud and also slightly in awe at the thought of his son becoming a priest.

Then, on the way out, we walked past a yard where the couple who owned the house was letting people park. Everyone who parks there (and passersby as well) gets a free rosary. How cool is that??

There were also mini donuts. Which were not Catholic, per se, but anything that tastes that good must have been blessed by God with some special grace.

Are you saying $40 is not enough???
I did not get cookies or fries or ride any rides.

I don't know how people do the rides, actually. The food + the vomitrocious ride action would lead to much puking, I think.

haha ... well, I have a plan already in place. I have bags for both of us, and a list of things to show her. I'm not sure where we will be when, though ... maybe we could arrange to meet someplace at a certain time, like, the haunted house at noon?

It's really the perfect word for it.

I hate those rides.

not because of the vomit factor...
The vast majority of the kids who ride them don't get injured. Or puke.

You can take some comfort in the odds ...

For any people who might be reading this who aren't in the know... My son went to the Great Minnesota Get-Together with his friend's family... and $40.
