Health Insurance Owned And Run By Practicing Catholics

Hey all,

I thought I'd share some very feel good stuff for you about the new company that I've been at for about a month now.... it is great.

The two owners are both practicing Catholics.

Something else very cool, we are an health insurance company... one that does not pay for contraception or abortions.

I also learned that in most cases, individual health insurance is cheaper than getting group insurance through most businesses. Someone under 30 and healthy could have health insurance for around $100/month.... a child around 3 is about $60/month. Other things that I learned about personal health insurance, that the only reason they can drop you is if you don't pay. They can only raise rates based on a state limit and age.... so once you have it, then you have it as long as you're able to pay.

The company is the only the new health insurance company to start up in the past five years or so. A ton of doctors are backing it. One downside is that we are only in Florida, but we are in an expansion phase and are looking into entering other states.

Hey bro,
Haven't moved yet... Amy wants to move after Joshua is born (early Nov) because she doesn't want to switch doctors or drive so far when he's ready to come out.

I'm working on Rocky Point now, near the Airport... if you're down that way, let me know and we can do lunch.

God Bless!

it's a piece of poo :annoyed: i could add baby girl and hubby for a mere $750/month. which is half of my monthly paycheck (roughly) <_< umm, yeah, i'd like to be able to eat and pay my house payment and electricity and water and heat/cooling. but maybe that's just me

if it goes national, i'll let the abbot of Christ in the Desert know about it. the monks arent covered by health insurance because the premiums were too expensive.

oh wait, you mean thats not a living wage and not in line with the Church's teaching on social justice? :annoyed: huh. why in the world would you expect that?

ARGH!!!

/hijack to complain about Church salary/benefits programs <_<

My good friend/former-youth minister Chris complains all the time that the Church is all about being pro-life and having babies, but doesn't pay its employees enough to feed, clothe and house those babies. He's got 4 kids now (as of yesterday) and he's considering leaving the ministry and trying to find another job that pays better and has better benefits.

It's sad....come on Church! Pay us right!

bingo. its all right to talk the talk, but those of us who enjoy serving the Church would appreciate if her local levels could walk the walk
