eperez874
2 years ago when the first movie came out pope john paul the second forbid harry poter movie because of real magic in book and movie he send to a kids house to study his behavior and he was completly possed they make an exoxism in him. he also said that not all people can have possesion but the ones whio are weak in mind wich means not necesarly crazy but who does not have much of religion. a 6 months ago pope benedict forbided harry potter because they are using real magic in the movie. also last bishop we had in phoenix forbided the movie to all catholics. he said if we participate we are paying the witch who wrote the movie money wich will hlp her pay for satanic things she has. my mom found out in an page all the videos, games and books that the church forbided. doom and diablo(spanish word for devil) has satanism at strong content there was once a man who used to hear voices in his room and saw horible things. the archbishops orded to not play nor whatch the games at all no exeptions same with harry potter added this to the list that is all the news that i have for us catholics God bless you. Extra ecclesiam nulla salus
do you have any evidence (first hand documentation) that Pope Benedict or Pope John Paul II forbid Harry Potter? From what i have heard, neither liked the books, but never forbid them. and the author of the books is not a witch, but a Christian.

ardillacid
I think Doom 3 is a sweet game. Amazing. Diablo II is pretty fun game too, not as intense though.

But no popes have ever forbidden Catholics from reading Harry Potter. It is just Pope Benedict's personal opinion. Harry potter is one of my favorite books and movies. Farsight one
yes but Harry Potter came out 10 years ago.
Yes, but his post mentioned that JP2 said something about it 2 years ago, which is obviously impossible. His phrase exactly: "2 years ago when the first movie came out pope john paul the second forbid harry poter..." ...and the first movie didn't come out 2 years ago, and I've only ever see JP2 speak positive of harry potter, not condemn it. AlterDominicus
Its bad, but it isnt - I mean as long as you dont go around with a stick and wave it while annunciating, "Wingardium Leviosa!" And as long as you keep in mind that it is all fiction, its ok.
CatherineM
I love the books and movies. It is very clear on good versus evil, and makes as its central theme that everyone has a choice--the easy path or the right path. I couldn't have taught my boys that lesson any better. It is good versus evil, and there is no mention of the devil or satan, or which craft in the traditional way.
