MIKolbe
I just got The Fathers' Manual by A. Francis Coomes, S.J. I am unsure if you are a dad or not... but very cool book, AWESOME prayers.
abercius24
You're probably thinking about the Divine Office, but that consists of 4 rather expensive books to cover the full liturgical year. I recommend that only for someone who has been involved in a deep prayer life for at least a couple of years. A more affordable and still very inspiration meditation book is My Daily Bread. Very nice catechisis alongside some good spiritual insights. I recommend this book first to anyone I find wanting to begin a deeper life of prayer. Another good one is Immitation of Christ by Thomas 'a Kempis. Hope that helps. God bless! Edited August 19, 2007 by abercius24

I'd be interested in what you end up going with that is so comprehensive.

Plus, it has a cool ribbon thing Blessed be God

Totus Tuus
My suggestion is "Manual of Prayers". At one point before I got the liturgy of the hours I totally wore mine out. The prayers are so beautiful. It includes the "Litany of Humility", prayers by St. Thomas More and many saints, an examination of conscience and prayers for Confession, prayers before and after communion, really beautiful morning and evening prayers, prayers for certain occasions... it's great. It does have Latin as well, but it's not ALL English-Latin. And you're definitely young enough to appreciate the boys' version of this book: http://www.catholictreasures.com/cartdescrip/11230.html. For some rasons I can't find the guys version but I know it must be out there. My sister has the Girl's Guide and it's awesome. Dave
I recommend the Pieta prayer book. Prayers and Heavenly Promises is also a good one.
curtins
would it make more sense to get a daily roman missal?
Totus Tuus
Does the daily Roman Missal have a lot of prayers? I don't think it has Latin. At least, not the ones I have seen. Are there various versions?

photosynthesis
handbook/manual of prayers is really neat! I particularly like the prayers before and after Mass. It's the official prayerbook of Opus Dei.
