I wear an amice, an alb, a stole, a cincture and a chasuble.

I always wear skirts with nice collared dress shirts or a nice dress sweater, I usually wear matching earrings and high heeled shoes (in winter, high heeled boots). I make sure the colours of my clothes always match and that the material of the skirt does not clash with the material of the shirt or other way around. (i.e., wearing a summer shirt in the winter with a woolen skirt)

I also wear beanie hats, but nice ones, when it's not so cold I wear another type of dress hat (I only started doing this last week). I also wear my dress coat, it's pretty awesome.

Then again, I LOVE to dress up, so I always have fun getting ready for Mass. :)

On occasion I wear dress pants, but I always wear them with high heels.

It can also be intimidating at times though, what to wear for Mass, because SO many girls wear jeans, it also used to bug me because I would feel 'out of place,' however. Since I went to the pre-candidacy for Consecrated life (Regnum Christi) in R.I. I don't get that as much, I always remember that I have to dress properly because I am going to see God. The One who created Heaven and Earth, sorry but I think a person should give God more than just jeans.

I agree. I don't have many good clothes to wear, and tttt, Wisconsin winters kinda make suits in February...useless, but I do try.

I am a university student who attends Mass on campus most weekdays, in between classes. So, during the week, I'm wearing whatever I'm wearing.

On Sundays, however, I am making an effort to dress nicely -- suit and tie, dress shoes, etc. Someone once told me, in effect, "If the prime minister sent you an invitation to dine at the House of Commons, you would certainly dress up for the event. But at Mass, it is Jesus Christ Himself who is inviting you to Supper -- surely He is more important than any politician." Makes sense to me.

I always wear a skirt that at least covers my knees, a shirt (or dress) that goes down to my elbows and isn't low cut, and a veil. My grandmother was responsible for most of my Catholic formation, and she always insisted that I dress nicely. I think everyone should dress as nicely as they can, you're going into God's house to recieve the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ... but I don't think anyone has the right to judge another's dress. There are a lot of reasons why someone may not be in their best attire. I think the fact that a person is AT Mass is much more important than what they wear.

Man...If your priest is going to go through all that effort to get dressed up, then so should you. Slacks for men, Long skirts, or dresses for women, pants are inappropriate (for women). Or maybe you disagree with me -

So let's see what Dear Mr. Jesus has to say about dressing up for the feast!!

Matthew 22
The Parable of the Wedding Banquet
1 Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come.
4 "Then he sent some more servants and said, 'Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.'
5 "But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his business. The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them. The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
8"Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.' So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, both good and bad, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
11"But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 'Friend,' he asked, 'how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' The man was speechless.
13"Then the king told the attendants, 'Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'
14"For many are invited, but few are chosen."

Growing up, I was never allowed to wear shorts or jeans. I usually wear nice dress pants & sweater or a nice skirt and top during the summer.

Mass at school is different. I wear whatever I've worn throughout the day, but I cannot bring myself to wear sweatpants even if I've had them on all day. Usually it's jeans and a sweater/sweatshirt.

Dress shirt, tie, nice slacks, sports jacket or sweater/vest. I usually don't wear a jacket in the warmer months or a tie when it's really hot.

The mass shouldn't be a fashion show, but we should show some respect for God by dressing up in our "Sunday best." This is an exterior sign that the Mass means something important to us.

i think the other thing to remember, though, is that God's not going to condemn any because he recieved the Eucharist in jeans!
Most people seem to come to Sunday Mass in what ever they're going to wear for the rest of the day. Older folk dress smart but loads of others wear jeans, tracksuits and the like. No one seems to mind, much but I feel more appropriately dressed in smart clothes.
i've seen plenty of 'older folk' come to Mass in shorts and a t-shirt. and younger ones in very nice clothes. so i think the stereotype that older folks usually are the ones dressing nicer is not necessarily true.

i almost always wear something nice for Mass (especially Sunday Mass - and I know I should get out of the habit of 'casual' clothes for Saturday Mass, but I can't help it! it's the way I was raised!!). if I know i'm going somewhere after Mass, then i'll wear comfy shoes, but i won't dress down any because of it. usually i come home and change into different clothes after Mass.
