Dress Up For Mass?

What do you all wear when going to Mass?

I feel it's a special occasion so I dress as smart as I can (suited and booted as they say in these parts!) No tie though - I can't stand the things!

Most people seem to come to Sunday Mass in what ever they're going to wear for the rest of the day. Older folk dress smart but loads of others wear jeans, tracksuits and the like. No one seems to mind, much but I feel more appropriately dressed in smart clothes.

Does it matter?

What do you all wear?

i think we're supposed to dress our best according to our state in life. if we're homeless, it's perfectly acceptable to come to Mass in rags. if we're rich, we should wear suit/tie all that jazz <and maybe buy a suit/tie for the poor guy in the pew next to us in rags while we're at it!>

anyway, i don't practice what im preachin here half the time... but i should!

I agree with Aloysius. I wear my normal clothes but I usually dress decent anyway, and it's the best that I have. If I had suits I would probably wear them to Sunday Mass. I think it's ok to wear normal clothes to daily Mass since you might not be able to change (like if you go to Mass on your way to work or on lunch break). I'm sure Jesus wouldn't flip if you showed up in sandals and a tunic, but it is a sign of respect and dignity to dress your best.

I agree with LD and Al. I dress usually in a semi-casual fashion. I feel comfortable with what I am wearing and I think it is appropriate. Dress shoes, collard shirt. Nonetheless it is presentable.

Here in Southern California casual is the norm that I have seen. I've worn shorts, jeans, my phatmass T-shirt etc.

I once got back from a motorcycle ride and I did not want to miss Mass so I showed up in jeans, boots and a muscle shirt and a beanie(took the beanie off of course). I can imagine what people were thinking but I don't care because my heart was in the right place.

I have yet to see anyone under the age of 60 wear a suit.

I dress casually in what I'm wearing for the rest of the day. Usually jeans or khakis, but it's far from looking bummy. I've never seen a man wear a suit to mass and I've never seen a woman wear anything fancier than a casual skirt. Plenty of people in my parish come in jeans, swish pantaloons, and sweat pantaloons. What people wear doesn't bother me so long as they're there and they have the right intentions in their heart.
