Do Tridentine Masses Have Cantors?

As I give away my ignorance of the Tridentine Rite. ;)

(at least you'll never catch me saying "the priest turns his back to the people!")

No, they usually have a choir to sing the ordinary and the hymns (if there are hymns) and have a schola to sing the propers.
whats the difference between a schola and a choir?
The choir director in me wants to say....

"A schola can sightread!" Cue drumfill. "Thanks, I'll be here all week. Tip the veal and try your waitress!"

The schola is a smaller, male group which chants the propers and ordinary (usually alternated with the people), they use the Liber or Gradual.

Ora et Labora

I sing in a Choir for the TLM, and we do have a Cantor...but he usually just begins some of the hymns, and never really sing a whole song just by himself.
