Yes yes. I think I saw that before so thanks for refreshing my memory.

Question: if this is a document from Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger when he wasn't the Pope, does that present anything problematic? Does it give the laity more "leeway" to disagree with this? I completely agree with the document, I just want to make sure how "official" this stance is.

It is not a document from Ratzinger personally, but from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which speaks for the Holy See. That is why the Pope has to approve the document. See the end of the document:
