And I always knew that
Snape was a good
guy. No wonder he was
so unpleasant
. Being a
double agent
is stressful.

Rowling has said that she knew how she wanted the series to end, back when she started writing. Other than someone like me, who starts a *children's book* with the plan to have the main character die a horrible death at the end?
Well....

I actually had a local publisher (Waldman Press) offer to publish a children's story that I wrote. I met with them and they loved the book. All except for the ending. Where, the protagonist was killed by a mob of angry children.

I tried to rewrite the ending but it just didn't work. So we never published

That must have been one heck of a book if you couldn't come up with an alternative ending to substitute for children succumbing to mob rule and murdering someone....

Either that or he's lacking a bit in the creative writing department.

The metaphor was weakened with the alternate endings. The publisher agreed that the original ending was the best, he just didn't feel comfortable publishing it that way. I tried to go with the Grimm's argument but he wasn't buying.

That's interesting. It's understandable why it didn't get published, though. You could always try for a smaller independent publisher.

Its actually not as violent as it sounds out of context. And I'm not sure I could find a publisher smaller than Waldman.

Good folks though
