journeyman
Psalm 14 (Douay-Rheims) Unto the end, a psalm for David The fool has said in his heart: There is no God. They are corrupt, and have become abominable in their ways: there is none that does good, no not one. 2 The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there be any that understand and seek God. 3 They are all gone aside, they have become unprofitable together: there is none that does good: no not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they acted deceitfully: the poison of asps is under their lips. Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and unhappiness in their ways; and the way of peace they have not known: there is no fear of God before their eyes. 4 Shall not all they know that work iniquity, who devour my people as they eat bread? 5 They have not called upon the Lord: there have they trembled for fear, where there was no fear. 6 For the Lord is in the just generation: you have confounded the counsel of the poor man; but the Lord is his hope. 7 Who shall give out of Sion the salvation of Israel? When the Lord shall have turned away the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
faithcecelia
Psalm 15 (NIV) 1. Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? 2. He whose walk is blameless and who does what it righteous, and who speaks the truth from his heart 3. and has no slander on his tongue, and does his neighbour no wrong and casts no slur on his fellow man, 4. who despises the vile man but honours those who fear the Lord, who keeps his oath even when it hurts, 5. who lend his money without usury and does not accept a bribe agaibst the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.
icelisou68
Psalm 16 ( Vulgata Clementina) Conserva me Domine, quoniam speravi in te. Providebam Dominum in conspectu meo semper : quoniam a dextris est mihi, ne commovear. Propter hoc laetatum est cor meum, et exsultavit lingua mea : insuper et caro mea requiescet in spe. Quoniam non derelinques animam meam in inferno : nec dabis Sanctum tuum videre corruptionem. Notas mihi fecisti vias vitae, adimplebis me laetitia cum vultu tuo : delectationes in dextera tua usque in finem. [b]Gloria Patri et Filio et Spiritui Sancto, sicut erat in principio et nunc et semper et in saecula saculorum. Amen. [/b] Psalm 16 (NIV) [sup]1[/sup] Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. [sup]2[/sup] I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.” [sup]3[/sup] I say of the holy people who are in the land, “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.” [sup]4[/sup] Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips. [sup]5[/sup] LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. [sup]6[/sup] The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. [sup]7[/sup] I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. [sup]8[/sup] I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. [sup]9[/sup] Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, [sup]10[/sup] because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay. [sup]11[/sup] You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. [b]Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. TheresaThoma
Psalm 17 (RSV) 1.Hear a just cause O Lord; attend to my cry! Give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit! 2.From thee let my vindication come! Let thine eyes see the right! 3.If thou triest my heart, if thou visitest me by night, if though testest me, thou wilt find no wickedness in me; my mouth does not transgress. 4.With regard to the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have avoided the ways of the violent. 5. My steps have held fast to thy paths, my feet have not slipped. 6. I call upon thee, for thou wilt answer me,O God; incline they ear to hear me hear my words. 7 Wondrously show thy steadfast love, O saviour of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at they right hand 8 Keep me as the apple of the eye; hide me in the shadow of thy wings 9 from the wicked who despoil me, me deadly enemies who surround me. 10 They close their hearts to pity, wither their mouths they speak arrogantly. 11. They track me down; now they surround me;they set their eyes to cast me to the ground. 12. They are like a lion eager to tear as a young lion lurking in ambush. 13. Arise O Lord! confront them, overthrown them! Deliver my life from the wicked by thy sword. 14. from men by thy hand, O Lord, from men whose portion in life is of the world. May their belly be filled with what thou hast stored up for them; may their children have more than enough; may they leave something over to their babes. 15 As for me I shall behold thy face in righteousness; when I awake I shall be satisfied with beholding thy form. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end.
