Why Did God Create?

Why did God create? Why did he create angels (which some chose to become demons)? Why did he create non-living things and living things?

I can see why he would create non-living things. non-living things are needed to support living things. Living things are needed to support other living things. When it comes to human beings we live off of other living things. At this point we have to touch spirituallity. Human beings are said to be spiritual creatures in which the condition of our spirit determines our fate when we die. Gods purpose for making us spiritual creatures may have been to show higher beings of existance the importance of serving God himself. When it comes to creating anything at all... I have no explanation. What was God's purpose of creating Angels (assuming these were his first creations)?

Don't forget that even non-spiritual living things have eaten human beings (i.e. sharks eating people and alligators etc.). Maybe God just felt it was best for those people to die at that specific moment. But I can't really speak for God.

I think that this question is asked by so many people, and so few can understand or answer it. I can't understand it, nor give you an answer, but I believe that God created us, and angels, because he loves us, and wants us to be in Heaven with Him. Not because He was lonely, or needed us. One choir of angels is used to help us get to Heaven. The others adore God, and give Him glory with everything they do. I don't believe any of us can speak for God as to why He created the angels, nor speak for the angels. But the point is God gave them that chance to decide, God created them and us out of love, and gave us/them the chance to choose.

6. Q. Why did God make you?

A. God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him forever in the next.
It's in God's nature to create and love. I mean, it's in our nature, and we are created in God's image and likeness.
True, God obviously has the capacity to create, and since we are in His Image, we too have that potential in us to 'create' on a lesser scale. But it's interesting to remember that God was under to compulsion to create, i.e.: creation is not necessary, but is a free act of God. After all, God can gain nothing from creation, as He already is Infinite Goodness and Love. The communication of this Love to create reflects His Nature, but was not necessary.

I like your answer, but I do have a problem with some of the theology. When we say "in his image" does that mean that we are like God because that is how he is? Does that mean that we were intended to be like god?

That doesn't really answer the question. That answer is specific to why He created "you."

Although it does provide a good idea of the correct answer for the original question: because God is worthy of being known, loved, and served in and by creation, and because He loves and wishes to share His love for all eternity.

In short, God creates because God loves, and love, by nature, is creative.
