Democrats Block Amendment To Prevent Fairness Doctrine

Today's liberals are yesterday's Communists.

Ironically, many of the same liberals who will lecture piously about the importance of "freedom of speech" when the debate concerns porn or such, and solemnly warn against the dangers of "McCarthyism," will readily support government repression of "right-wing" political or religious speech, on the grounds that such speech is "dangerous" to "democracy" and must be restricted.

The spread of pornography was a goal of Communism, by the way. Their strategy was to use the first amendment as a guise to make this possible.

Just saying.

As far as the fairness doctrine...it's actually not a bad idea if you look at it at face value. The problem is that they will never apply the same fairness to, oh...let's say...the New York Times. Or Olberman's show. Besides, it's not Rush's fault that conservative ideologues are more entertaining than liberal ideologues.

The problem is that "fairness" (which is hardly an objective concept) is decided by government bureaucrats. This is totally contrary to the concept behind "freedom of the press."

Maybe there could be some sort of government subsidy for the lost revenues of radio stations that are forced to but on liberal talk shows?
