Yeah, after HBP, I began to wonder about this. It would really be a Christological theme, wouldn't it? The last shall be first, the meek shall be great. Neville and Harry are very similar, with the only major difference that I see is the notoriety that Harry has due to his struggle against Voldemort.

We shall see...another 7 days and we will all know.

can't say I agree that Neville is the chosen one.....

you mean I've had read 7 books and it's NOT Harry POTTER?!!!!!

she would get a huge letter of disappointment from Texas, that's for sure!

and xTrishaxLynnx, I agree. Although I was even more irate when my fave LOTR's came out and they changed so much and left out so much! :maddest:

but I'm over it. :drunk:

I feel like Neville is going to become just like Snape when he grows up. Except that he isn't in Slytherin. Whatever.

I hope Neville's the chosen one, but I admit the Deathly Hallows will be the best book yet if Harry dies.

I came across the following by accident, and I wasn't really happy about it. So I'm not giving any name(s), but this could still be something you don't want to read if you like starting a book with no expectations as to what's going to happen. But for those of you who are interested...
I heard that a major female character dies in the 7th book.
I didn't think that was a big secret since they've been quoted as saying
2 major characters were going to be killed off in the end.
But I thought that was common knowledge. :idontknow:

Yeah. I think Harry dying is the only way that the series can end.

Hamlet has witchcraft, LOTR has wizards, would you avoid them as well? Harry Potter is entertaining fantasy where the good guys win.
its not the same thing as harry potter, in harry potter it has you reading magic spells. i read story by an exorcist that said the people get possesd by reading these things.

"You start off with Harry Potter, who comes across as a likeable wizard, but you end up with the Devil. There is no doubt that the signature of the Prince of Darkness is clearly within these books."

You make me laugh. Spells and wizardry have been used in literature for centuries. Read this, by a former official at the Pontifical Council for culture:

Msgr. Fleetwood:
"I've been asked by a lot of people if they should allow their children to read Joanna Rowling's books about the trainee-magician Harry Potter. And the reason why they ask is that they've heard that some of the content is anti-Christian. I can't see that personally. I was asked once in a press-conference in the Vatican whether I thought the witchcraft and magic in Harry Potter was a bad thing, and I said to the people present: 'did anyone in this room grow up without stories about witches and fairies and magic and spells and mystery and so on and so forth?', and everyone seemed to agree that none of us had grown up without those things. And then I said: 'did it make us into enemies of the faith, or enemies of God, or enemies of the Church?' And people seemed to say: 'no, no'. And I said: 'well, I can't see any problem with Harry Potter, because, really, all the stories are about the victory of good over evil'. People say: 'yes, but Harry uses magic spells!' Well, that's only a kind of literary device to keep children interested. It's not putting forth a theory about magic. I know lots of teachers in England, and they've all said to me: 'How remarkable! All of a sudden we don't have to ask children to read books!' There's been a real craze. The unfortunate thing is, people call it a 'cult book' and then mad people say: 'oh, it's a cult' - meaning a religious cult, and it's not!

Oh please. This is ridiculous. If you are an impressionable child, you shouldn't be reading Harry Potter or anything else other than Scripture. But I'm 20 years old...I believe in Jesus Christ and love Him dearly....and reading HP has not pulled me away from Him in any way.

The movie totally rocked. Off course they left some stuff out, but the fight seen at the end was awesome.
