Aloysius
on what grounds is one able to petition for a rite-change? like, if i wanted to join a rite because it still had 3-hour long Liturgy, didn't use English <i'd havta learn the language or at least the prayers in the language>, and all that cool stuff, is that enough motivation? or do i have to have some connection to the culture somehow? :just curious:
BLAZEr
It would be odd to change to another rite just for the heck of it. If you had some familiarity with the rite and wanted to raise a family in an Eastern Rite Catholic Church then after talking with the Eastern Rite Priest, he could advise you as to how to go about it. It would involve a letter from your Eastern Rite Bishop to your Latin Rite Bishop informing him of the desire for the change and a request for your records (baptismal, confirmation, marriage). You do not have to change rites in order to worship in an Eastern Rite Church.
