MORight2Life
Don't they use those swords to attack Anti-Catholics at the Parish doors? No, of course not...they use them to keep the people from leaving early! Congratulations to Vianney! We'll keep you in our prayers. Yes, the Knights do make amazing spagetti, pasta, salad...just food in general. Be God's! -Michelle :)

BurkeFan
There are four degree within the Knights of Columbus. The first degree is the general-initiation degree. The second and third degrees are just further degrees. The fourth degree is the final degree. Those who have taken that degree can join the color guard, who are the guys that wear the capes and swords. In Christ, Dave (Fourth Degree, council 4561)
thicke
OK, well being the Grand Knight of Monsignor John A. Welsh Council #4312, I have to chime in here.... Here's a list of some of the things we do: 1) Parish breakfast once a month. It's a free breakfast to anyone who want to eat, after each Sunday morning Mass one Sunday a month. 2) MR Drive - We go an ask for donations to the MR (Mentally retarded) foundation in front of grocery stores. There are six (IIRC) group homes for the mentally retarded in Tennessee that are completely fund by this. 3) Women's religious appreciation dinner. We throw a party for the all the Sisters to thank them for everything they do for us. 4) The Diocese of Memphis is currently in the process of opening "Jubilee Schools". These are parish schools that have been closed in the past due to lack of enrollment. They are now being opened in mostly lower income neighborhoods to give the kids of those neighborhoods a good education. The Knights in the city have been going to each one a painting, cleaning, and building accessories (cubby holes, etc.) for these schools. Each one that we've worked at so far has told us that we saved them enough money to provide three or four extra scholarships. 5) We sell BBQ 3-4 times a year that we cook in the parish parking lot. This is one of our biggest fundraisers to fund the projects already listed. There lots more we do, but I am running late for work.

Quietfire
It does seem they do provide a wonderful service to the community, I personally never hear anything about them here were I live though, even though there are quite a few 'lodges' around my area. But whats with the clothes and all, swords etc. so much to learn.
