Lounge Daddy
Political Science - So GVSU would be just fine, affordable, and close to home. I am fortunate to live in a kind of college city. - U of M isn't too far, and a fantastic University with a great poli sci program (and a very reputable law program) FUS looks like it has a fascinating Political Science program, though. I was intrigued by what I read at the web site. Ah well, I have a year and a half before I really need to worry about it too much. melporcristo
FUS! FUS! FUS! FUS! GOOOOOO FUS! ...lol. I've heard Michael Miller's name a couple times--he had a band at the school or something? But I've never met the guy. If you're looking for a Catholic school that's actually Catholic but you're looking for a couple more majors...it's the place to be. Though, it does depend on your major...
The guy with the band ... that would be Matt Miller, maybe his brother?

jiyoung
Juuuuust kidding, then...all I remembered was a first name beginning with M, last name Miller...whoops. lol. I don't know much about the FUS poli-sci program, but I would imagine it would be quite a different experience to look at politics through Catholic eyes. I've also heard that Kragen or whatever his name is (I don't remember) is a really difficult teacher...good, but hard, from what I hear.

friendofJPII
I went to FUS.... Note, I graduated a while ago so things may have changed.... Pros: Good place to recieve your formation as Catholic, Blessed Sacrament in every dorm, the water slide at the Bellvue Park Pool, nice people, free swing dancing lessons, awesome chicken bar on Sundays, the tomb of the unborn child, Great homilies, Country music lovers abound. The walk up and down the hill is good exercise. Cons: I was an education major and honestly, I thought the program left much to be desired. The books in our curriculum lab were very out of date. When I was there, if was very much a theo/phil school, other majors were neglected, IMO. Things may have changed, I know they built a new science hall since I left. Households can be very cliquey, and the school is cliquey in general. Some grads have a hard time adjusting to the real world after they graduate. Silly liturgical pettiness. Good luck on finding a job that is not custodial. At the time I was there, the fieldhouse needed more exercise equiptment. Memories of the vocation fair trigger a bout of PTSD in me. Many of the classes are strict lecture style. The housing office fines for everything. They charged me $35.00 for checking out 10 minutes late my senior year. While many other colleges put too great an emphasis on making money and becoming "successful" FUS doesn't stress it at all. Many students forget they actually have to get a job after they graduate, it is not a four year retreat.
