DAF
Hey, for those of us going to Australia for WYD, it's a 20 hour plane flight. What do you think about taking OTC sleep aids to help pass the time? I was just curious how long they help you sleep, and if the side effects make the benefits unworth it? Any thoughts? Mason

Dreamweaver
Hmm, I heard that sleeping pills don't really induce true deep sleep, so you may end up groggier than if you didn't use them. Maybe you could look at other ways to help your body adjust? Make sure to keep hydrated; drink water, not sugary beverages! And, bring a portable CD or mp3 player. The inflight music only goes for an hour loop. Listening to looping Asian pop music was useful in helping me nod off during a trans-Atlantic flight. gamesfanatic04
I'm taking a gameboy advance and the two best games in the world, super mario bros. 3 and pokemon ruby. Call me fully entertained.
Didymus
on the way to Germany, one of the girls in my group took a little nyquil before we left and was able to sleep fine. she said she felt great when we landed
Sojourner
I use melatonin as a natural sleep aid. 3 mg, I think. I haven't had to use it for a few weeks (yay!) but it is pretty effective. And I second the MP3 idea ... or a portable DVD. I don't really like reading while traveling, cuz I can never get quite comfortable.

I don't know much about sleeping pills but I heard that they can be a little addictive sometimes.
jenna311
I used NyQuil when I flew to Spain a few years ago. I wasn't really groggy when I woke up. I only woke up once on the flight---there was a bit of turbulence, but I woke up, half noted that there was turbulence, and just went right back to sleep. gamesfanatic04
The best thing about SMB3 is that I could beat this game in hours when I was a littler kid but now that I am 22 the game confounds me at times. Also, does anyone know if there will be a place to pitch a tent? A friend in my religion class asked but I had no idea.
Totus Tuus
I took Nyquil from NYC to Paris, and it was helpful. It eased my nerves, even though I didn't get a deep sleep. Had it been a longer flight I probably would have slept more.
Deus te Amat
can you still do that? i mean with the new restrictions and everything?
Mercy me
Sydney is only 14 1/2 hours from LAX and LAX is 13 1/2 from Sydney. It isn't that bad. Fly Qantas it is much better than United. I think they now have on demand video at all their seats. You can bring aboard medications and liquids not exceeding 4oz. Have fun!
