Do learn the difference.
You get an F for early middle English conjugation. The imperative singular would be "Give thou". Givest would be second person singular. Making sure no Sacred Particles are lost is not OCD or scrupulosity.
StColette
Do you have to floss too? I mean the swishing of water probably doesn't get everything.
EJames
I do, because in the Eastern Catholic and Orthodox Churches(Russian), after you receive Holy Communion, you can 'rinse' by drinking some blessed wine, and then a piece of bread(not the antidoron), immediately after Receiving..mainly though ,so that this is the first thing you eat after Holy Communion, breaking the fast with something blessed, and liken to what Our Lord used for Holy Communion.... when i lived in Brampton and attended St. Elias, this is what we did, so i still do upon arrival at home...thanking God for His great gifts...but i am not scrupulous about it if i cant.. i have photos of this all somewhere..... you see again, that the Roman catholic Church was LITURGICALLY allot closer to the Eastern Churches , and vice versa,, before THE council;..(one exception being concelebration) pax Edited July 1, 2007 by EJames
Dreamweaver
I always thought there was a prohibition from eating until 10 minutes after receiving. I'm not sure if its official, or where I heard it from.

Sojourner
Well, you don't "need" to rinse at all. But you may.

I swallow without chewing though so don't really see the point. Also not too comfortable with the idea of carrying a bottle of water (or anything else) with me to Church, or running out of the Church right after communion while Mass is still going on. I take care that there are no particles, but it's really not that hard to do so if you swallow it whole. Shouldn't be made of any material that could make crumbs in that amount of time anyways. It seems though if one was particularly concerned of this they would do something about it as soon as possible. There may be a small number of people that do this, but I don't see that it's particularly necessary. If one notices that they do indeed have a particle, then in such a case it would be prudent to do something about it. Anyways, I suppose if it helps in your case then I'm sure it's cool. I just have never had a reason to do so, even on the chance occasion that I do get a particle I'll just swallow that too.
XIX
I usually dissolve the Eucharist against the roof of my mouth, so I see not way He's ever going to be stuck in my mouth or in my teeth. It's not a bad idea though. I don't really think it's overly scrupulous.

Just food, for thought, taken as you like as a former Religious in a conservative Community, i discovered that John 6:56 of the Holy Scriptures saint John deliberately chose the Greek word 'masticate' for eat. "56 Whoever eats,(GK:masticates=chews or "gnaws"), my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him." very earthy intense stuff, a real absorption ...Communion... thus many Protestants say its just spiritual 'chewing' on The word of God..but WE who are possessed by The Truth know better., and thus more scandalous to those who don't believe, and discontinued to walk with Our Lord.... and all the more reason to 'swish' as you say,IF one can in piety and love, without worry. may you continue to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of Our Lord and Saviour pax!
