Didymus
no i don't. I used to wonder about this, and thnx for the summa quotes StColette. I didn't know there was actually previous Church consideration on this matter. I usually make an effort to wait until I know all of the particles have dissolved before I go stuffing my face on Sunday (cuz the weekend is for eatin ) My main concern was usually the fact that I usually get particles stuck in my molars (I know it sounds stupid, but it just happens)
Knight of the Holy Rosary
I only do that with latin water

tommy more's just a lil bit obsessive about stuff like this.
Does he not have a right to be? It is Jesus we are receiving. I sure would hate to have Jesus get mixed up with one of those after-Mass doughnuts. I don't know... I kind of like the suggestion. Thanks ThomasMore. Resurrexi
I've never heard of this practice. What does the Catechism of Pius X or the Baltimore Catechism state on this matter?
The catechism of St. Pius X says: 49 Q: When should the sacred Host be swallowed? A: We should try to swallow the sacred Host as soon as possible, and we should avoid spitting for some time. The Baltimore Catechism doesn't say anything about trying not to lose any of the Sacred Particles after Holy Communion. I have heard there are a good number of people who do "swish and swallow" water lest any particles of the Sacred Host get mixed up in food, on silverware, or on a toothbrush.
Seems to me that if this were a real concern to the Church there would be some sort of protocol in place to address it. We are, after all, proscribed from eating for an hour before Mass ... I'm aware of no such proscription following Mass.
