T-Bone _
Personally, unless you get into the whole crystal/pyramid/reki stuff, I don't see the difference between it and normal (western) medicine.
philosophette
I would agree with T-Bone. I used to work at a health food store and had to be trained in a lot of it. Some of it was clearly mumbo-jumbo, but other things like using peppermint and licorice for stomach ailments, lavendar for skin troubles, milk thistle tea for nursing mothers, and so on did work. Chemical treatments are only a recent innovation and many herbal, homeopathic remedies have been around for thousands of years. I watch a show on Imhotep last night, who was a high priest of Egypt and a doctor. He used honey to heal wounds... which is still as effective now as it was then because it is a natural anti-bacterial and barrier against infection. So avoid the crystals, sugar pellets, magnets, and salt rock lights and you should be fine. My favorite treatment is the use of the Neti Pot for my sinus problems. It has changed my life! 93 Phillies
homeopathic medicine has dramatically improved my acid reflux disorder. i don't see why it would be looked down upon...
jeffpugh
I use homeopathy. It works. It really does. I see nothing mumbo-jumbo about it. But I personally prefer natural herbs and the like.
kateri05
just a note, homeopathy is highly different from regular medicine because it uses highly concentrated, distilled versions of pharmaceuticals, as well as natural remedies. also, its cause based, not symptom based, so its aim is to discover and remove the source of the medical problem, rather than simply treat the symptoms. that being said, i know some orthodox catholics that use it, so i'm sure its fine (minus that weird new age stuff somebody mentioned. i think genuine homeopaths wouldn't be cool with that silly stuff either ) Edited July 18, 2007 by kateri05
missionarybelle
my mom has used it for years. Some of the stuff REALLY helps. but homeopathics are different from herbs. ditto to the moon rock/crystal thing though.
farglefeezlebut
My mum has found it helpful in dealing with back pain and it worked wonders on some menstrual problems I was having.
