NewReformation
Fortunately, I walked out during the halftime show. Our youth group had a get-together(unofficially) to watch the superbowl at one of the guys' house. When halftime came, myself and two of the girls left. However, all those who stayed to watch it delighted in telling us all about the nekkid breast incident. I hammered on them for watching it, and then, for talking about this in front of people who clearly didn't want to hear it...particularly the girls. As for CBS not realizing that MTV would do a show that was morally depraved, they need to pull their head out of the sand. MTV is absolutely from the pit of hell. The bared flesh that is in their programming, the sensual lyrics in the songs, etc, all point to the fact that our society is swiftly going downhill. But the fact of the matter is, the problem does not lie with the unsaved. The problem lies with the believers. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of a lack of righteous people found in those cities. In II Chronicles 7:14, God says that "If my people, which are called by my name, will humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and I will heal their land." We will never experience a turn-around in our neighborhoods and workplaces, much less our own nation, if God's people do not strive to be holy. WE ARE TO BE SALT AND LIGHT IN THIS WORLD PEOPLE, SO TELL ME, WHY IS THE LIGHT SO DIM?????!!!!!!! It's high time that God's people took a stand against the moral debauchery that is so prevelant in our nation. What makes this entire incident worse is the fact that many people see nothing wrong with it. WELL, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT!!!! READ YOUR BIBLES PEOPLE!!!!!! I do believe that God made clothes for Adam and Eve, so there must be something wrong with nudity. :weep: *steps off his soapbox* If you can't tell, I'm a little perturbed at this. the_rev
Why doesn't CBS do there own half time show! They could of contacted some great christian artists, instead of the filth MTV produces!
cmotherofpirl
Unfortunately I turned the Superbowl on at the point Justin was undressing Janet. I just wanted to check the score. It had to be deliberate because she had a pasty on to cover her nipple. Don't tell me she came prepared for accidents. CBS said MTV will never do a halftime show again. Hurrah! for small favors. BTW right after that a streaker ran cross the field and wads tackled and hogtied by a linebacker. This was no seen by viewers because CBS had cut away because of Janet. Do you think she did it to take the public eye off her perverted brother? Edited February 2, 2004 by cmotherofpirl
nikkan_hanil
Justin Timberlake is supposed to be a Christian. Protestant at that, but still Christian. When I saw him go on his own I was expecting him to be a little more clean, I have a list of plenty of times he's gone the way of sin. Worst of all, all the girls in the world seem to be attracrted to him including my crush. God help us!
Brother Adam
(this is for someone specifically who knows who they are) Pornography is sinful in all instances. Justin and Janet are not married, so that makes their behavior sinful. Be set apart from the world for we are not of it.
CICCIO
i think we shoudl drop this. the FCC is gonna do an thourough investigation now. its being taken care of.
M.SIGGA
It's not really about MTV being morally corrupt and CBS being something else. All the stations are owned by Viacom so to really protest if you really wanted to it would mean not to watch anything other than PBS.
Thomas Michael
Heh... right now, telling everyone to drop it would be like telling Satan to turn on the air conditioner. Everyone knows this is gonna be a hot topic for the next week or so. Edited February 2, 2004 by Thomas Michael
jasJis
It's not seeing a 'breast' that is so incredibly offensive. What's offensivie is: -A man forcibly exposing a woman's breast without her clear approval. -Exposing a breast in a manner that can't be called anything but coarse entertainment. -Displaying coarse entertainment during the SuperBowl when FAMILIES aren't expecting it and are caught unable to make the decision what their children will see. This was nothing close to 'art', and to claim it is, is an affront to artists, including Michealangelo and especially to God.
nikkan_hanil
Oh, this event was sponsored by MTV? That explains it... <_<
hyperdulia again
Sometimes art shocks and offends. Sometimes art shocks middle classed sensibilities. Sometimes art is not fit to be seen by the eyes of children. Sometimes people seem to think thaat the decay of the western world is about sexual licentiousness. It's not. Good morals do not make the devil quake in fear and run in the opposite direction the Holy Names of Christ and His Blessed Mother do. That is all. It is reaally hard to evangelize the world when one cannot taaake things for what they are, a breast was shown---big whoop. What about the suffering Church in Africa? What about seventy percent of American Catholics not believing in the Real Presence? What about Catholic priests imprisoned in China for bringing the Good News? We have seen a breast. I don't care. Have we seen Jay Leno and David Letterman spit in the face of the Bride?
revolutionoflove
My question is - why are we even watching the half time show? The channel should have been changed long before Janet exposed herself. I recommend watching the game and skipping all the "entertainment". We all watched the game together but had one designated person (not a kid)in charge of the remote for quick channel changing during some of the commercials and 99% of the entertainment! PatrickRitaMichael
It's not really about MTV being morally corrupt and CBS being something else. All the stations are owned by Viacom so to really protest if you really wanted to it would mean not to watch anything other than PBS. This would be lovely, in my opinion. Americans watch too much t.v. anyway!! I think that Janet Jackson should invest in quality clothing instead of shirts that fall apart at the flick of a wrist! :P
the_rev
Yes, I gotta agree I watch a lot of TV!!! But I have to watch some shows, it is a habbit!
cathgirl
I think that they need to have more than pop artists. I like country and gospel music. They need to mix it up more. I watch WAY too much tv.
