Are Catholics Mindless Sheep?

We're supposed to be sheep!

It was when Adam and Eve didn't want to be sheep anymore that they got into BIG trouble.

I'm a big happy sheep. Bhaaa.

Just follow what the Church says? Do you have any idea how hard it can be to just follow what the church says? I just have to keep sexually pure, and I just have to stay humble. Or, I just have to always tell the truth, and I just have to be loving towards others. How about I just have to give assent and obeidence to teachings I don't fully understand? If only it was as easy as your statement implied. Believe me, it would be much easier to just do what I wanted and make the Bible try and back me up.

peace...

Good Post!

Yes, we're all sheep, but at least we know our Shepherd, and He knows us.

We understand the call of His voice.

The Holy Spirit speaks to us through the One True Church, which It guides.

It has done so since Pentecost, guiding each pope from St. Peter all the way to John Paul II !!!

The voice of the Shepherd hasn't changed in 2000 years.

The message is still the same.

Can we say the same about protestant denominations?

Certainly not.

The oldest is no more than 500 years old, and there is a different denomination for every different bible-twisting belief out there, each claiming to be led by the Holy Spirit, but each following his own man-made doctrines based on his own interpretations.

Even the Bible tells us not to interpret Scriptures on our own.

And even the Bible tells us that the pillar and foundation of Truth is (not the Bible, not our personal interpretations.....).....the Church!

Pax Christi. <><

OUCH! Bro Adam!

You say that there are so many ignorant Catholics, (true), and that many just follow along just because that's how they were raised......(again true), but one of the things I like about you most is that while you are admittedly Baptist and don't agree with the teachings of the Catholic Church entirely, you still seek knowledge and understanding the way a Christian is supposed to. You are a credit to "Protestantism" and Christianity.

By the way, I am fairly new to this "phorum" (November), and don't know how much longer I'll be here unless I find another job to support my "internet addiction"......just lost me' job today!.......there's another, I pray! Anyway, You are fun to interact with based on previous read posts by me. I also come from a Baptist/Pentecostal background and only a fairly recent convert to Catholicism....at the age of 33....now almost 35. :P - God bless you and most especially for your spirit of charity!!!! - Muschi

CatholicAndFanatical

I feel ya pain muschi im in the same boat. I'll be praying for ya.

As for Larry (aka, 'truth' - or lack thereof) why is it that every single post you make its always a self righteous one? You're good at making comments and judgments, but you're not very good at answering questions or backing up your claim. If you have the Holy Spirit within you then the answers to these questions will be easy.

Off the top of my head I think of 4 threads where you've made snide comments about how much you have the Holy Spirit and us Catholics are just lost and have no clue.. But when confronted about it and asked questions you dont reply. Why are you scared to put the Holy Spirit to use if you do indeed have it?

As for your comments about "Just following what the Church says.." I garuntee you brotha that its alot harder doing what the Church says than you think. You're pretty lucky, you get to make up your own rules, interpret the Bible the way you seem fit, attend a church that fits your style. You know all the important things you would look for in a church if you didnt want to be on Christs side.

Yea, sure is a trade off though. I had my choice, came from a Pentecostal background. My choice was either I wanted Christ, or I wanted the freedom to do what I want, interpret what I want and attend where I want. I chose Christ. Only by His grace was I called here.and everyday I thank Him.

Again, stop the self righteous chit chat and start replying with the answers to the questions we ask.

Despite Truth's abhorrence for the Catholic Church and obeying the pope and stuff, he doesn't seem to realize that Protestant evangelicals often treat their ministers as popes! They look to them for proper Bible interpretation and guidance. I bet he does the same thing. If so, then he's being hypocritical by saying we're wrong to go by the Church.
