jeffpugh
I voted "no" on the poll because the first thing that came to mind was tears. I don't recall crying at mass, though there were moments where I wanted to. I've actually cried very joyously after really good retreats and stuff... just at night after reflecting I'd be praying then I'd start wailing. But back to the mass, I get very joyful when there is excellent music and the tradition shines through because it makes me marvel in God's work through the ages through inspiring beautiful vestments, incense, and awesome music. IcePrincessKRS
I don't IN Mass, but I do in Church sometimes (like during private reflection in Adoration or something). Sometimes I do just randomly, thankful for all that God has given me (especially when I am playing with my kids... kinda awkward to explain to Adrienne why Mommy is crying and that I'm not sad, I really am happy). Usually after confession I am very joyful.
Maria_Faustina
I admit I may just cry easily too... but I do get tears in my eyes at least, when I really think about what the Mass is, and the Eucharist--it's incREDible! That I have the opportunity to go there and receive Jesus, in my hand (or mouth). Tears of happiness, it is. And during the centurion's prayer too, like some other people said. Oh, and, every time I go to confession--after I confess, and the priest begins the absolution. Of course there's times when it was just because I was really sorry, for some certain big things. But I think usually it's the realization that, again, I have the opportunity to go to confession and be forgiven. It really is amazing. (I'm technically a convert too--returning to Catholicism; can you tell?) And I agree, it must be even more overwhelming for the priest... if I were a priest (theorectically, since I'm a girl) I think I would find myself in tears of joy and awe every time I consecrated the Eucharist. Would probably scare some parishioners away....
EAnn246
I cry easily and I've cried at Mass numerous times. I usually cry more often at school about something the Priest says in his homily or some other part of Mass. I've been crying a lot during Mass at home because our church has just been through rough times (the death of our beloved Priest and Fr. Matt returning to his home Parish after coming back to help us out for 6 months). Other times, it's just the beauty of it all.
toledo_jesus
actually, this morning at Mass I got fairly emotional. We sang Holy Holy Holy. Whenever we sing hymns about our sinfulness and so forth I am usually overwhelmed by the knowledge that God still loves me despite the fact I'm pretty much awful. I could barely look at the crucifix for shame. I don't really cry though, because I am steel.

melporcristo
JMJT ha ha, that was cute you wrote "emo" -- the question of what "emo" is came up on my gmail account thing where it has the news... i got a kick out of that! to answer your question, today I was actually way emotional at mass. I was having a tough day. And Mass at my school (Franciscan U), I'd cry almost every time!
Resurrexi
I do not cry at Mass because I believe the intellect should keep control over the emotions.
Laudate_Dominum
I had a friend who would often faint during the consecration--with surprising inconspicuousness I might add. She once fainted whilst praying in front of an abortion clinic. That was actually a rough one.
geetarplayer
I don't cry often. When I do cry, however, I pay attention, because it means that God's trying to show me something. -Mark
my EVERYTHING!
I don't often cry, exactly, but I will get somewhat emotional. It's like ''My Lord and my God loves me so much and He is so humble that He is willing to come to us in this way, and be subject to so much abuse just to be closer to us and for the possibility of drawing us closer to Him.'' Sometimes I can't sing any more because my heart is too full. But even when I'm not emotional, I still try to call to mind the wonder and awesomeness and humble love of what is happening.
