MissyP89
Somehow, I don't think I'm the only one here that gets emotional at Mass, especially during the Consecration. For me, having been born Catholic but never caring until just recently, I find myself overwhelmed at Mass. "Lord, I am not worthy to receive You, but only say the word and I shall be healed." That really resonates with me. I don't flat-out cry (I have a very hard time crying in public), but I do get choked up sometimes. What about you? Ever get funny looks for it? Totus Tuus
It is very beautiful to be able to experience such emotions at certain times during one's life (however short-lived that period may be ). They can help you to focus at Mass and to realize with your heart what is going on. However, we should never view an absence of such emotions as a bad thing. Emotions do not denote love. But it can be a gift when Our Lord allows you to experience emotionally the beauty of the Mass and thereby help you to gain a better appreciation for the mystery. I like a quote from St. John Vianney pertinent to this topic... will have to find it tomorrow Edited June 3, 2007 by Totus Tuus
MIKolbe
I flat out cry. The centurion's prayer is my favorite.. it encapsulates humility and faith... yeah, people look at me... doesn't really bother me. If tears of the penitent are the wine of Angels, then i am a vineyard.
MissScripture
I have cried before, but the most recent thing was, at my brothers wedding, looking out and realizing how many of the people there were not Catholic. And then thinking how lucky we were because we get to have the Eucharist every day of the week, if we want. And then I felt sad for them.
Just imagine how the priest feels, he experiences it on whole other level; he has the Eucharist in his hands...sometimes overwhelming is definitely not the word...actually, words fail at that moment...definitely one of the most interesting things I saw was when a priest had difficulties saying the words of Consecration because he was holding back his tears... Groo the Wanderer
Yes. I get 'emo' at the centurion prayer, the confeitior, and the Our Father. Something about hearing all those voices in unison slamming the devil...yamma! I also tend to have this really stupid-looking grin on my face when I server as ext min of communion. I get really happy to be able to help distribute the Lord to our parish. I think it weirds out some of the parishioners though. Some smile back at me, some won;t look me in the eyes....lol. chelsea
I have definitely cried during mass. Until recently, I became very sorrowful during mass. I was just plunged into this darkness, even though i knew God was with me. I wouldnt cry, by my heart HURT. Even when i was in a state of grace this would happen. I learned to just offer it up, even though it was very hard. A priest told me to start praying the joyful mysteries of the rosary and now i'm incredibly elated during mass. <3+

Brigid
yes! I don't cry all the time, but I'm always really emotionally involved. I thought it was just because I cry easily (I really do... when I'm angry or really tired, especially), but I guess I'm not the only one! I also cry during or after confession. yesterday, we had a visiting priest, and he was really confused at my tears. he kept saying "Be happy! Be joyful! Don't be sad!" and I kept having to say "I am happy, Father, thank you". I cry during adoration, too... most of the time because I'm just so amazed and joyful that God is there for me, and that he'll forgive me for anything. I cried after I was confirmed...I KNOW I'll cry during my wedding, and I'll probably cry during my kids' baptisms. Basically, I'm an emotional person. prose
I get choked up during other sacraments (ie. weddings, first communion, confirmation), but on a regular basis, I don't get too emotional.
Sojourner
I often cry at Mass. Maybe half the time I go.
farglefeezlebut
I grin like an idiot at mass sometimes. I've cried at GoodFriday Liturgies, though. And On Maundy Thursday. I remember smiling so much at my confirmation that my cheeks ached for ages afterwards.
