MissScripture
Go ahead! And, btw, yes, I actually DID wake up one morning and look at the trim on a staircase and wonder, "What's the slope of that line?" It was truly frightening. I just joined the facebook group. Its a great one and the kids LOVE it! they beg me to read it. lol the book: Background of book: Math has never been so funny. When Mrs. Fibonacci tells her class, "You know, you can think of almost everything as a math problem," the Math Curse begins for the little girl in the story. Getting dressed, eating breakfast, waiting for the bus -- EVERYTHING becomes a math problem. How will the math curse ever be broken? By using math, of course. People who like math + People who hate math = People who will love this latest book from the team of Scieszka and Smith. its really cute! there's even a science book to go along with it! lol
CajunPirate
Isn't it funny that the stereotypical job for a high school underachiever always seems to be fast-food?
Brigid
oh, I like math! it challenges me lots. and I love how there are letters! e confuses me a little (it was just introduced to me, though, and it wasn't really a proper introduction) but I like i a lot. and the Math Curse book looks funny! I like Jon Scieszka, even though his name is confusing...
Totus Tuus
Oh man that was great! I recently dug up some of my ninth-grade papers as well. Among them was an essay I wrote for our class on Virtue studies, on how Yoda led a virtuous life, and how we should imitate him in his wisdom. I had no recollection of writing it, and could not believe the seriousness with which my ideas were presented. Lauren
MissScripture
I also found a note to one of my friends that was between me and Yoda, using quotes of his from the movies. I should see if I can find that again and put it on here. It was really funny.
MIKolbe
Find it, you shall. Put it on here, you should. Funny, it will be.
MissScripture
This was my conversation with Yoda, after I walked into a desk during German class, one day. All of his lines are movie quotes, minus the first. Yoda: Stupid, you are. Me: No, I'm just a moron. It's different. Yoda: No, only different in your mind, you must unlearn what you have learned. Me: I try not to be a moron! Yoda: Try not? Do or do not. There is no try. Me: I think I'm just crazy. I can't control it. Yoda: Control, control, you must learn control. Me: I do want to learn control, like controlling my own legs, so I don't walk into a desk. I wanted to go between the desks, not through them! That hurt, and took longer, too. Yoda: If you choose the quick and easy path, as Vader did, you will become an agent of Evil. Patience. Me: I know that, but why is walking through a desk (or attempting to) better than walking around it? Why do I do such dumb things? Yoda: No, no, there is no why. Me: [as Obi Wan walks up] I hate when I do dumb things. I hate when I'm so stupid. There must be a reason! Obi Wan: Luke, don't give into hate, that leads to the Dark Side. Me: Ummm, my name isn't Luke, but okay. [Leia and C3-P0 walk up] C3-P0: The Princess- Me: I'm the Princess! That's MY nickname! Leia: I don't know where you get your delusions, Laser Brain! Me: I have a bad feeling about this!
