Cussing, A Specific Issue On It

Most of us would agree, cussing is a sin. Now... let's say for those who have a problem with cussing (like me for example), used other words to let out fusteration/anger, would that be a sin? For example...

- Instead of saying d-mn, say deh!

- Instead of saying f-word, say freak!

...is it still a sin? I need to say *something* to reveal the steam.

I don't think all cursing is a sin. I think it shows ignorance and a lack of vocabulary, though. I don't look at people who use the f-word every 2.6 sentences and go "My, what an intelligent person!"

But every once in awhile, sometimes something is just "carp" and there's no other word to describe it. I think those that hear a rare curse word and freak out need to lighten up a bit, and those that curse up a storm because they can't think of anything better to say need to wash their mouths out with soap.

(I think it's real cute, by the way, that my "carp" was changed)

Nicole, therz like 13 pages there, and i think they decided in the end it was somewhat sinful.. i donno. but the occasional cussword is not necessarily sinful unless your intent isn't sinful, i guess i agree with you there.

what do you think, is this one just gonna be absorbed into the other one too? LOL

oh, and saying "racca" or "fool" in anger against your neighbor is a sin condemned by Jesus, so i mean if you just let out steam against no one, just at like the situation or somethin, then nah, go for it. but if you are replacing the word sayin "you freakin idiot!" or somethin, i think that's just as bad as sayin "you f---in idiot!"

Only times I really use cuss words, is if I'm fusterated or angered or sad, or something that was suprising. I don't over use it (such as, saying a cuss word in every sentence I say), I just don't feel right about it.

But at times... situations come to pass where you have to let off steam. With me, 95% of the time, I don't use a cussword at anyone.

i say there's no problem with replacement words if it's replacing a word you're just usin to let off steam in general. however, if you're replacin a word you were usin to let off steam against another person in anger, then no it's not aight.

It's still a sin.

What's the point of saying gosh darn?

Everyone knows what you were going to say. The intent is still there. You still blaspheme. The same goes with substituting other words for curse words, like this fiddler does. If I say carp you know what I reallly meant.

hyperdulia again

firstly i don't think cussing is ever a sin on it's own...for it to be a sin it must be coupled with malice.

secondly if i say "i hope you go to heaven", but my intent is not a charitable one i have sinned.

Or if it offends others. But I try not to cuss around others, just incase if it offends them.

IF when you are cussing, it is an instance of sin, replacing words will not help you.

Please rephrase that, didn't understand the first portion.

If the instance in which you cuss is one where you deem the action to be sinful, then replacing a cuss word with another word does not change the fact that you are sinning.

For instance: For God's Sake! becoming For Gosh Sake! does not change the fact that you are taking the Lord's name in vain. Because you know that it is usually God's name in there, and you just changed the word to try to slip into a "sinning loophole".

that's what i said basically... if you're saying it in anger against your brother (or in order to offend your brother) then replacing it means nothing. if you're just saying it out of frustration with some situation or somethin, just to vent your frustration, and you want to not offend ppl-- replacing the words is aight.
