kafka
so what is your opinion on the life work of Fr. Stan Fortuna, who is a Franciscan Friar of the Renewal?? do you feel as if he should not have used his gifts to evangelize because he is ordained and not a layman? www.francescoproductions.com what about JP2's call for "new evangelization"? p.s. their order is not a "rock band ministry". The Catholic Underground is just an event that they have brought about. it is clear that what you know about them was formed completely by that video
Sorry yeah. It was more the thought of Friars in a band that got me. I modified my view a little. But you are right it was a quick reaction. Still I dont think priests or religious should be engaged in too worldy of things such as a rock music or a rock band in order too evangelize. There may be exceptions. Just my opinion. This is a good debate and it isnt Church doctrine so no big deal.
kafka
Also my opinion on a priest using his talents to evangelize? Sure why not, yet at the same time I think he should depend more on God's grace to win souls. So if a priest is a great preacher, yet not as holy as a priest who isnt a great preacher then the former's ministry may not be as fruitful. franciscanheart
Fortunately for these friars, they are all very holy! They are very much connected with Christ. Their devotion to Jesus and Mary are beautiful and motivating. They touch many souls and not just through their music.
Church Punk
I think brother Augusto ??? in the video puts its quite simply. They dont even have a name for their group, because thats not who they are. The adoration and prayer the preceeds the concert is the essence of CU.
dUSt
I've been to a Catholic Underground (Point 5 Covenent performed there), and I'm the one who built their website for them: http://www.catholicunderground.net I wouldn't be supporting anything that doesn't glorify the church. Trust me when I say that theses Friars know what they are doing. It is because of them that my devotion to the Holy Eucharist is so deep.

I've been to Catholic Underground NYC.... around seven or eight times and twice in Philly. Catholic Underground is an AMAZING evangelizing tool. Many people are converted there from non-Catholic religions to Catholicism and even more are converted to active Catholic Faith. The Friars are amazingly holy people, amazingly faithful to the Church, I know many of them personally (including Br. Augustino and Br. David who were in the video) and they do make time for prayer! Catholic Underground isn't done for themselves, it is done for others to enrich their spiritual lives. And it most certainly succeeds! It definately embraces JPII's New Evangelism.
