Do you think wearing a crucifix is bad?

No. Nothing that expresses our Faith is bad. I wear my phatmass T-shirt and I plan on getting a tattoo of a Crucifix. I never said that these people are wrong but I just don't do that. I don't sign myself that often in public. I don't say my responses so loud in Mass that others across the pews can hear me.

You see I really took Mathew 6:5-6 to heart, literally. I don't impose this on others. I was just wondering of anyone else felt the way I do.

When I go out to eat I say grace first, even in McDs.

Being public with your faith is not imposing yourself, its identifying who you serve.

I doesn't mean you do it louder, or stand up in front of everybody and show off, it means you are consistantly Catholic, in public and out. So if you say grace at home, you say grace in Burger King. You are Catholic 24 hours a day, public or private.

I never said anyone should not pray. I pray throughout the day everywhere but no one knows it.

make sure you do the Sign of the Cross b4 grace so they know it's a CATHOLIC Grace!!!! ^_^

don't try to be Catholic because you'll get praise, that's the kinda stuff Jesus didn't like... but bein Catholic DESPITE it being unpopular and frowned upon... He loves that...

if we lived in a society full of Catholics and u walked around signing yourself all the time, then you're bein a hypocrite like He spoke of, but in such a society today, when you sign yourself in public, you're more likely to get ridiculed than to receive some earthly reward.. there'z nothin wrong. :cool:

I have an unused rosary hanging from my rear view mirror. When I pray the rosary I use other rosaries. I don't have it there because I intend to pray it. I have it there to signal to other people that I'm a catholic.

In case I'm in a car wreck and need last rites.

Or in case some mexican wants to steal my car, I hope he'll feel guilty.

Or when I'm on a road trip so that little kids who are catholic in other cars can look at my car and say "Hey, mom he's catholic, he has a rosary on his rear view mirror." Just like I used to do.

Oh yeah, and most of all, I have it there because it reminds me of Mary and reminds me to be reptenant after I cuss out the idiots who are driving all around me.

Actually, its most likely that you will get called a hypocrite and get talked about by other Catholics who think they are holier than you.

I have a rosary in the car that has only been used once. To me, it shows that I am a proud Catholic and want to show others the truth, but the only reason that it has only been used once is because it is like...a glow in the dark rosary and I use my other rosary when I pray it. I don't believe in the superstition of not getting in an accident with it there, but I have had some close calls that sould have had bad results...but I'm sure that's just because I was praying to God and not because I had a rosary hanging...

hehe the other day we went to get Pizza at this really crowded place with my church youth group (we had been visiting the Mother Teresa nuns!). We all said grace together, just normally, but with 20+ teens saying grace and then crossing themselves, the whole crowded place was pretty shocked!!! :D

I think it is great that you pray in public and say Grace. My point was that I do not impose the verses from Mathew I quoted, on my fellow Chrisitians. I don't hold them to that of which I might hold myself unless of course directed otherwise by infallible Church teachings.

I can care less if anyone likes or dislikes any public display I might do. I am more proud to announce my Faith to the world than that of being an American. If you knew me that is saying a lot. I wera it proudly and will continue to have symbols of my Faith througout my life to show that I am Catholic.

I just find some of it suspect because it might occur only when eyes are watching.

Again I do not know what lies in the hearts of people. Iw as just curious if anyone is bugged by this.

It is not an unused Rosary. You pray the Rosary and set yourself consciously as an example to others. You deserve nothing but praise.

I hung my little black rosary from my first communion on my rearview mirror. It's too smal to use and I think know it protects my car too - if not traffic accidents then robbers and car jackers.
