Consuming products with corn syrup in them makes the cramps worse. I gave it up and I do not get cramps anymore.

Closest thing to a miracle I've ever known! lol.

This also may be off topic, but I've found that being on the rag is a bit more fun when I use cloth pads instead of yucky plastic disposable ones. If you can sew, you can buy all sorts of exciting fabrics, and they're about a million times more comfortable. I also use a menstrual cup (DivaCup) which takes a bit of getting used to, but its a lot cheaper and in the long run and more environmentally friendly than tampons.

Chocolate is great also!
You know, that's kind of funny...how come feminists are so afraid to be female?
Embarrassment of Womanhood, which manifests itself into hate.

"Weep not over me; but weep for yourselves, and for your children. 29 For behold, the days shall come, wherein they will say: Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that have not borne, and the paps that have not given smell of elderberries." - Jesus Christ

"Why is it in this day and age where there is so much said about the feminine, is there nothing said about The Feminime?" - Bishop Fulton Sheen

as does vicodin
As does Mefenamic Acid (can't remember the more common name). :) And exercising helps a lot, too. I know it isn't something we feel like doing during that time, but it does help.

Now ladies this is what I love about PM! I have never heard of any thing like this! and so NOT tempted to try it! I can not even imagine what that might look like! I do not use tampons, they are nasty! I do use "always ultra thins" and I barely notice then at all! But given the fact that you enjoy all that kind of stuff, makes me smile!

with no surprise, the world makes my heart sink again. Science has it's place, but altering the natural cycle is not one of them. They can even manipulate plants without losing nutritional value, how can they alter a woman's cycle and not lose something?
Oh my. I can't believe anyone could justify or condone doing that. Sadly, it doesn't surprise me. However it is baffling that you could treat a woman's cycle like a problem. It's par for the course, though, with our contraceptive and abortive mentalities: if pregnancy is treated as a problem, then it is a natural follow-up that the physical disposition which allows pregnancy would be a problem as well.

How sad...
I'm only saying it is a problem because typically puking and feeling like death are considered problems. For most of the women discussing the possibility of using this (or any other variation fo the pill) on the Phorum we aren't thinking about the contraception. Some women's period are mildly irritating, but for other women hormones go hay-wire and we get very sick.

Being a girl is nifty and I'm sure bearing children is nifty too. But if some medicine helps girls feel better during their period and they aren't planning on having kids (or sex), then why shouldn't they take the meds?

Also, I have heard about the healthy food/ exercize helping, and my OBGYN has backed that up, but it's hard to do that in college.... I will I could afford foods without crazy imitation sugar in them, but alas poor yorick.... I did cut down on fatty foods (aka shady Chinese) and that helped, but I usually still feel like death. I wish I liked chocolate so that I had something to look forward to.

something like this exists already actually.. ever seen those ab-belt thingies on infomercials?

I always thought that quote was very powerful and prophetic.

I'd love to never have to go on the rag, ever again. I was so skinny in college for a while I didn't have a cycle at all. I have to admit that I really did not miss the monthly visitor. I guess I do find the cyclical aspects of the body to be pretty interesting, though. And I don't see how going against the course of nature in the body can be a good thing.

When things go hay-wire, that's generally an indication that something is wrong. Rather than putting a band-aid over it and ignoring the problem, maybe something should be done to correct it. I have no problem with people needing to take hormones or something like that, but they need to work with their body, and not just get rid of the cycle entirely because they are a little irritated with it. What things like this do are override your body, which doesn't make sense to me. Why not work with what you have, already?

when i had my periods (since i'm breastfeeding, i still don't have them back), they were horrible. very painful cramps - so painful i took days off from work; nauseous; headaches. that being said, there's no way i would take the Pill to avoid it.
