That's amesome, Hyper. Somewhere along the line, my Jewish ancestors (I don't know exactly where, when or why... too far back for anyone to remember) converted, too. As for the name Tamar: Dorothy Day's daughter was (is? Is she still alive? I don't know) named Tamar. tamar was an innocent, i liked her, but i find it kinda disturbing that she thought she could marry her brother... Wasn't it her brother-in-law? cmotherofpirl
THe nuns I had in habits were orthodox. When they lost the habit, they lost the orthodoxy, and are now leaders in the modernist women-ordination carp. They look like all the other old church ladies. God Conquers
Ya, what you say Dave holds mostly true. Sisters of St. Joseph are not all orthodox. Believe me, my aunt is one.

Good Friday
We're talking about different Tamar's. I'm talking about Judah's daughter-in-law.

Which ones are you talking about? I'm talking about the CSJ Sisters of St. Joseph of Medaille. Sr. Helen Prejean is one and they mainly work with the poor and minorities along with education. Unfortunately, that speaks volumes about her orthodoxy (or rather, lack thereof).

IcePrincessKRS
There are Sisters of St. Joseph in NY where I grew up. As far as I know or recall they were all Orthodox. Several of them teach at the local Catholic school.
M.SIGGA
Sr. Helen Prejean has appeared at Call to Action conferences. Unfortunately, that speaks volumes about her orthodoxy (or rather, lack thereof). I don't put it past her because she speaks to all types of groups and forums about reversing and/or changing how the death penalty opperates in the United States. She was asked to speak at my extremely ultra-conservative Catholic high school and she has also been celebrated by 2 New Orleans Archbishops and various religious orders. Would it be any different if she spoke to an anti-Catholic/ clerical protestant group on belhalf of defending all-life? As an activist against all forms of abortion and Death at all costs, from conception to NATURAL death, she uses all the resources at her disposal to get her message across and possibly get legislation changed. She also speaks about the greatness of JPII if you ever hear her speak. I personally think she is a living Catholic hero. You can't be too quick to judge all the time. And no, she doesn't wear a full-habit, but a nice nun-looking outfit.
cmotherofpirl
Is she a faithful obedient Catholic? THat is the bottom line.
