Sirklawd
ive gotta say I think he's walking a fine line. Sure he will say Catholic truths or say things like Catholicism is number one, but when I see it, it all seems in-character. His character, atleast from what I can tell, is a total mockery of the percieved "right" by the "left". So everything he does as that character is seen in that light. Sure some of the things are funny, but it really turns my stomach. It also just plain smells of elderberries that comedy central already has a left-leaning, news-comedy show (daily show) and rather than have a similar show that leans a little right. the have this, another left-leaning show communicated from a fake, right-leaning person, done up to further cut down the "right" its just petty. I could never imagine say, as a similar example, a republican-biased show done up from a democratic perspective where the host, who pretended to be democrat was all "har har har, ima democrat, blah blah" the fact that they took off Tough Crowd and now have this is just sad. Hilary Clinton, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi don't exactly get a free pass on that show. That's why I think that you need to take his comments about Catholicism with a grain of salt, but the other way, toward believing that he means it more than he doesn't mean it when he recites a portion of the Creed. It's not one sided at all. Rather, I always see him as battling both the Republicans and Democrats. Frankly, when I can tell what he's subtly getting at (his character isn't subtlle, but the subtle criticisms of the left and the right are there), I'm usually in agreement with him. Sirklawd
hmm ok i see what you guys are saying. I can accept that. Unfortunately, as has been also mentioned, I dont think the general audience of the show gets that. There's a whole lot of "blah blah blah the right is stupid, blah blah colbert makes fun of the right this show is great, blah blah lets go get drunk at frat parties"

"Question the Church" can be interpreted charitably without implying any dissent. "Disagree with" can merely be about stuff like fasts and priestly celibacy without implying disobedience. Budge
I sure hope Stephen Colbert has repented of one of his past acting jobs. Have any of you heard of Strangers with Candy. I watched this show {I was not saved yet} and it was very very raunchy...{I had to repent of watching it} I do truly like Amy Sedaris, but this is a show no Christian should watch} Stephen Colbert actually was the creepiest character on the show, a very homosexual teacher, that had the 'hots' for the art teacher who was also male. I discussed the use of birth control being a step toward reducing abortion when asked about a joke dealing with birthcontrol and viagra in this interview.
