Is this a real order? Found this on tumblr, (no mention of who they are, just that they were sisters). I'd feel like a fantasy princess in those habits....

The Spiritual Family, The Work. Yes, that's the real name.

They wear this garb only for religious functions. In the apostolate, they wear civies. I'm wanting to say they're akin to a secular institute, and were founded by a laywoman.

Blessings,
Gemma

That's true. This is their website in english: http://www.thework-fso.org/english/index.php
They are located in Rome, Jersusalem, Vienna, Munich and so on.
And: They are in line with the church (quote:) On 29th August, 2001, the fourth anniversary of the death of Mother Julia Verhaeghe (1910-1997), papal approval as a Family of Consecrated Life was conferred on The Spiritual Family The Work.

Thanks for sharing! These are beautiful pictures! This is their monastery in Città di Castello (Perugia) Italy - http://www.francisca...ve-sisters.html It was a former Poor Clare monastery and for a second there I was thinking it was the same monastery St. Veronica Giuliani was in! Wonderful!! Thank you for sharing these! There aren't many places online with their pictures. From what I've seen just here, http://www.mtstfrancis.com (currently their page is not up) and their video. They are often confused with the Contemplative Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate (posted above :j) Some ways to distinguish them is that their giumpe extends down (like a bib) like other Poor Clares and their veil is darker. I talked with one FI Friar about them and he said another difference between them is that they were already Poor Clares and then they joined the FI family.

Are both orders not in the US? It is SO easy to get them mixed up-I didn't even know I was doing it until you pointed out the difference![/background]

Thanks for the link! Does anyone know what they are doing here....Obviously its the 'take up your cross daily' but is this called anything specific, and is it practiced in other communities/orders? Thanks!

Yep, the Contemplative FSI have two houses (they often call them Contemplative Houses rather than monasteries it seems) in Italy, one in England and another in the Philippines. The Poor Clares of the Immaculate are all in Italy, 4 monasteries as of 2008. They were founded in 2002.

I'm not sure but I have seen a picture of the Capuchin Poor Clares at St. Veronica's monastery doing that too. I can't find the picture online though. It was in a little English booklet about her called, The Purgatory of Love, which I haven't been able to find available anywhere, except probably at her shrine.
