johnnydigit
considering that Martin Luther himself was against all religious life and celibacy, seeking to destroy it(like Henry the VIII as well) and wrote terrible tracts against it all... ----- pax
he did?! and i thought breaking his vows and disobeying his superiors with his impatience was bad enough! oh how i wonder if he made St. Augustine turn over in his grave.. HollyDolly
Well the sisters with the red cross might be Hospitalier sisters of the Sacred heart of jesus,a spanish community, but i am not sure. Where was the photo of the sisters with the interesting veils taken? On ebay they have a book about the Daughters of the Cross in louisiana ,and their old head dress was kind of similar to these nuns, except the top wasn't square.Go to ebay and click on books and then type in nuns to see what i mean. yes there are Lutheran nuns, only I believe they call them deaconesses. They are mainly found in Europe. There are Anglican Nuns in the US and have been some for a very long time.
Jennifer
Thank you HD for this information..........I'm glad that my pics arrived safely this time. The "interesting veils" pic was in one of my files but I'm sorry I can't remember where it is from. I was aware that the Anglicans are represented in the US... Their UK communities are mainly habited. Edited July 25, 2007 by Jennirom
hoosieranna
Does anyone know who these sisters are? The credit for the picture was "Convent of the Sacred Heart, Marseilles." I've never seen anything like them. (Couldn't link the actual photo and I don't have photo software) Unknown French community
