I saw this picture from the ones of Fr. Philippe's funeral. She is a OP but what congregation.
Cappa UNDER her guimpe! Good heavens! Who ever heard of that!

I know that there is a new congregation of OP Sisters that wear the full coif in the Toulouse Province. They were at the 01 General Chapter as translators but weren't supposed to be there. There was some communication mix up. Do you know what congregation they could be?

well, all i know is that this photo is from Fontgombault Benedictine Abbey at the ordination's of Frat. of St.Peter Priests there in 2004...she seems only with 3 others
perhaps representing??...being where she is and why,
i am not aware of any Traditional Dominican Nuns in France except for ones at Avrillé who are close friends with Soc. of St. Pius Xth?..which i doubt would go represent at FSSP and Fontgombault..
perhaps sending an email with pic to the Fraternité Saint-Vincent-Ferrier ,at Chémeré-le-Roi,(who use the Dominican Usage of Tridentine Rite), would know?i can do this if you'd like Sister?

AHA! i should have known,,IF the CANONESSES wear black capes ,under? guimpe? then they are the CHANOINESSES RÉGULIÈRES DE LA MÈRE DE DIEU at Gap?France.who would definetly <(sorry Margret Clare) be at the FSSP ordinations at Fontgombault

Érigée, en l’an 2000, en « Monastère de droit pontifical » par la Commission Ecclesia Dei, elle compte à ce jour une vingtaine de membres.
seems allot of the Canonesses have white veils, and a few with black..the Superior has white. so i am not suer what this means...unless most photos are from the early foundation days..and very few had black veils.

Right, I forgot, I did see these photos on the FSSP site.

The OP Sisters I'm talking about are not nuns but sisters and they are "traditional" in the broader sense. They're not 62 Missal (I'm trying to get used to saying that and not Tridentine!) as far as I know. I don't think they are associated with the FSVF's with whom I've had contact as we sent them many sets of OP breviaries.

Thanks!

We have a(n) (American) Dominican priest who is currently assigned in Fribourg teaching at our school this summer... perhaps I'll ask him about these sisters. :scratchhead:

Oh, is it Fr. John Baptist Ku?
If so, give him the regards of the Summit nuns!

All it means is that OP nuns and friars NEVER wear their cappa (the black mantle) UNDER the cape or guimpe the way this sister is wearing it in the picture!

Sometimes, when an aspirant comes for the 1st few days she goes crazy trying to figure out the "monastery" language! I guess it's a dialect of the "Catholic" language!

it seems they were there volunteering in 2006
"Soeurs volantes 29 août 2006
L'année commence bien... avec la visite-éclair de neuf Soeurs Dominicaines du Saint-Esprit, de passage à Fribourg. Toutes elles-mêmes enseignantes dans des écoles en France, ces religieuses consacrent leur vie à la prière et à l'apostolat auprès des enfants. Il se trouve que l'une des religieuses est la fille d'une de nos institutrices, donc la visite n'est pas tout à fait désintéressée !"
