Dave
This evening I went to a revival service at a Pentecostal church (Church of God, to be exact). Why did I go there, you ask? Business -- I went there to take some pictures for the paper's religion section. Anyway, there was lots of upbeat music, lots of clapping, hand raising, and shouts of "Amen!" And it made me sad, as it seemed to me that everyone was relying on emotions, as though the more moved they felt the closer to God they were. I'm not against stuff like that per se, but at least for Catholic charismatics such stuff is a means to an end, namely, experiencing Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. But for Protestant charismatics, that type of stuff is an end in itself. If only they knew what they were missing by not having the Holy Eucharist, which trumps all emotional experiences . . . :sadder: Let's be sure to pray that all non-Catholics will come to see the truth of the Catholic faith! God Conquers
Yep... that service was as deep as they could possibly ever get in their theology to experiencing God's grace. An incredible priest that I know had a dream one time of a Church packed with Pentecostals praising God at a prayer service. Then at the back, the doors open, and Christ in the Eucharist is brought in in a monstrance. The entire congregation turns, falls to their knees, and praises Christ more fervently and deeply than they ever had before. It's his hope for the future. I hope it happens. M.SIGGA
I think what they never had they don't really miss, that why such a profound change happens to Protestants who convert to Catholicism.
hyperdulia again
I don't understand Catholics who leave the Church (I mean really leave) it's hard for me to breathe when I try to imagine life without being able to recieve Christ in the Eucharist. Ah, brother, you said it... We know there is no life without the Eucharist. (St. John 6) God Bless, Your Servant in Christ, ironmonk
