Hey everyone, I just wanted to give a pretty exciting update! 15 men have been accepted into this upcoming class of novices for the Eastern Province of the Order of Preachers. That is the biggest class in the past 32 years (for those of you counting, that means since 1975). I am really excited about being a part of something so momentous, and I have no doubt that the Holy Spirit has big plans for this group. Please keep all of us in your prayers, and if anyone is interested in getting to know us, Fr. Garrott (the Vocation's Director) is putting up bios and pictures here: http://www.dominicanfriars.org/

Yours in Christ, Mary, and St. Dominic,

Jeff

Prayers for you Jeff and your fellow classmates. I know the Central province is looking at maybe nine novices (also a large number for them).

Thanks be to God!

Great news, Jeff! Fr. Andrew recently told me that it will be a big class! I'm looking forward to your coming to the monastery in January. We know all you really want are the chocolate chip cookies!
I saw your bio on the vocations blog, also.

Pray for our coming soon postulants! We have 3 entering in June and also a transfer Sister making a total of 5 in the novitiate. There are 4 aspirants also coming over the next few months!

In our Father, St. Dominic,
Sr. Mary Catharine

Wow, Sister!

I hope we will have Dominicans at the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, MN someday soon! We really need the O.P.s and it is only fitting with Saint Thomas as our patron. We are in the process of finding a new campus minister and I hope, it will be a Domincian Father -it would be so lovely to see that white habit around campus! (so feel free to spread the opening :) )

That's wonderful! I seem to recall that the Western Province had a big incoming class a couple years ago.

You're in the province of St. Albert the Great (as am I). I know three student brothers will be in Minneapolis studying this summer. Here's their website where they tell you their parishes.

Hmm... it might not be appropriate for the board, but will someone pm me an orthodoxy report on the various provinces of Dominicans (men) here in the US? I have heard, but I'd like an update.

Gratias ago tibi.
